Hustle and Flow actor Terrence Howard came to Washington last week and revealed to Green and Glover some political views that deviated sharply from the usual Hollywood groupthink. As if that wasnt politically incorrect enough, the suave, soft-spoken Oscar nominee went on to say: I dont think President Obama has been that revolutionary in reaching out to ethnic communities. President Reagan did a lot for the black community that people dont realize.

For the most part blacks refuse to admit that republicans care more for their wellbeing than democrats.
Dems only want them on the plantation as a reliable vote, never delivering anything they’ve promised.
He’s got the Iron Man franchise working for him, he’ll be okay. But I get the point.
Wow, I like the guy even more now, he was already one of my favorite actors.
Don Cheadle is playing that part now.
Yep - No more Terrence Howard. Personally, I don’t care much for Chedle - a bit to smarmy for my tastes.
Good for this guy for speaking the truth.
Did you catch this bit on the site:
‘Wilson watch’
“The Four Seasons Hotel was hopping last night! Former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry dined at Bourbon Steak while “Wedding Crashers” actor Owen Wilson sat on a sofa at the bar.”
(snip)
“At about 9:30 p.m., Mr. Kerry whisked past the bar without noticing that he was in the presence of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Perhaps Mr. Wilson found it refreshing to be ignored for a change.”
LOL..Kerry is such an ass. He physically ran into my son in a Georgetown bar once and didn’t say excuse me or even acknowledge that he had run into him. My son said he wanted to punch his lights out. Sometimes the impish side in me wishes he had done just that....LOL
If he's held these views for a while, and mentioned them to anyone, it could explain why he was dropped from "Ironman 2."
I hope not. It's wrong for anyone to lose their job over their political views, no matter what they are... With the exception of politicians.
Mark
Actually, the producers replaced him with Don Cheadle for "Ironman 2."
Mark
Robert Downey Jr. is a conservative. I doubt Terrance lost his job due to his political view.
Wow, did not know that. Thanks for the update.
Actually the reason is because Terrence was the first person cast for IM, even before Downey, and ended up locking in more money that anyone else in the film. He was too expensive to keep for the sequel.
I have a really interesting political point of view, and its not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you cant go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You cant. I wouldnt wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics every since. - Robert Downey Jr.
After his suicide attempt in 07, Owen Wilson asked for privacy from the collective media, and it was granted unconditionally apparently.... because you don’t see his name anywhere in the media.
And Mickey Roarke is as well! Scarlett Johansson OTOH is a big-time Dim.
Is she in the next iron man?
Maybe it’s taken the current CIC (Clown In Chief) to make Americans (and perhaps the world at large) realize that Ronald Reagan did A LOT FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE!
No, she plays the villian’s (Mickey Roarke’s) girlfriend in Iron Man 2.
There are reports of her and Gwynneth Paltrow not getting along on the set. Imagine that, 2 liberal cats fighting.
right...imagine that :|
I loved the first IM. I hope the 2nd doesn’t go to hell in a hand basket like most sequels do.
Right! I think it will be good, except for Cheadle replacing T. Howard. Mickey Roarke is usually good!
Sequels: most are inferior, IMO, these were better:
The Godfather 2
The Empire Strikes Back (close call)
Rambo 2
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, better than the first 2 Clint/Sergio ‘Spaghetti Westerns’
"Hustle and Flow" actor Terrence Howard came to Washington last week and revealed to Green and Glover some political views that deviated sharply from the usual Hollywood groupthink. As if that wasn't politically incorrect enough, the suave, soft-spoken Oscar nominee went on to say: "I don't think President Obama has been that revolutionary in reaching out to ethnic communities. President Reagan did a lot for the black community that people don't realize.Jimmy Carter, OTOH, did nothing but his reprehensible "ethnic purity" gaffe and "Reagan will divide black from white" campaign talk.
A good Howard film is in "Dead Presidents." He really does bring a slow burn to his roles.
“For the most part blacks refuse to admit that republicans care more for their wellbeing than democrats.
Dems only want them on the plantation as a reliable vote, never delivering anything theyve promised.”
B O O M !
Ditto The Empire Strikes Back (very close call).
Still, the original statement withstands the test of time, though. Aliens 3 and 4 went downhill from the first 2, Return of the Jedi filled me with the urge to beat stuffed animals, and SW Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were a mish-mosh of terrible acting, inconsistent story lines with the original 3 (like Darth Vadar being very young when he turned, to looking like beneficient grandfather in ROTJ, the Force moving from a spiritual source of power to a scientific one, the gratuitous jabs at Bush, etc.) and a heavy reliance on special effects to advance the plot line.
Then we get surprises. I really liked the latest Rambo and Rocky movies. They returned to the original roots that Stallone wanted to bring to them. (While he wrote the first Rocky, he was very unhappy with his performance in "First Blood" and thought the movie was terrible. Imagine his surprise when it was such a huge hit!) He wanted both characters to end with dignity, not remembered as a "bad sequel" joke.
The last Rocky and Rambo kicked ass! Stallone wants to do ‘Rambo 5’ though - I smell a stink bomb. The last one was fine - leave it alone Sly. Actually, Trautman shoots Rambo dead in the novel ‘First Blood’ - you also see this in the flashback of Trautman in the last Rambo film. He pulled one Rambo off without Trautman, I don't think it'll work twice.
The Star Wars prequels sucked for the most part. I agree with your assessment. The latest Star Trek is the template for future prequels, as far as I'm concerned - a very well done film!
Dark Knight, Terminator 2 - yes
Spider-Man 2, Superman 2, X2, Dawn of the Dead, and Shrek 2 - never saw any of them
Kill Bill Vol. 2 - disagree I like Vol. 1 better
I was just thinking this yesterday. What the hades has BO done for the 'minority' ethnic communities?-- other than some feel good hummer jammer vibes. Are minorities overall well being better off with BO? 'It's a fantasy'---give Pres. Clinton credit for nailing it with BHO.
Dawn is even more scarier nowadays. We’re surrounded by Obamazombies.
You’re probably right, but it’d be harder to recast Tony Stark.
now i’ll have to watch it!
No doubt Robert Downey Jr will one day win an Academy Award, I just hope he stays sober. Hollywood is thin in the true talent department and RDJ has always been the real deal. What an actor. I am so glad to know that he is not a liberal, it makes me like him even more.
How many times do we have to say it: Barack Obama IS NOT BLACK! He has not experienced life as a Black American.
WTF?
No, Reagan may have tried to reach such groups, but Obama doesn’t have too. They are in the bag for him and will forever remain so. They know nothing else.
He has benefited from popular affirmative action programs and is therefore black by the definition of the American people.
OK - take it you didn’t like the film then.
V for Vendetta - great film, good points! Good analogy between Creedy and Rahm Emmanuel. Although Creedy most likely has some class.
Thanks for the heads up on the new Star Trek. I really thought they had run their course on the Star Trek movies; Wrath of Khan was classic Star Trek and fabulous character-driven narrative; Search for Spock was also a blast. Star Trek 4 was extremely funny.
5 was a waste of film. I'm sure the stars weren't too happy with it either.
Never got into the "new generation" series, so it had no appeal for me.
Good to know they are setting it back in the right direction, again.
I'm on board with you about Rambo 5 - this was a good, solid ending to the character's story. Like you said, "leave it alone, Sly."
Have a great week!
You are welcome!
Star Trek 2, 3 and 4 were the best IMO. I would put the new movie in that class - a really good film.
IMDB.com has Sly in a remake of Death Wish - that should be AWESOME! I hope he puts his energies into that and not a Rambo 5, but it looks like he’s making both. Let’s see what happens.
Looking forward to Inglourious Basterds coming out in August.
Happy viewing!
