CIA Chief Says Cheney Almost 'Wishing' U.S. Be Attacked Again
Fox News/AP ^ | 6-14-09

CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of the Obama administration's approach to terrorism almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."

Panetta told The New Yorker for an article in its June 22 issue that Cheney "smells some blood in the water" on the issue of national security.

May just smell of fearfulness and doubt about their decisions. Liberals project and telegraph their inadequacies by attacking their opponents. Makes me nervous.

Leon, if there's no "blood in the water," what smells? He knows.

Panetta is almost "wishing" that he were at Yankee Stadium when Sarah Palin's daughter was "giving it away".

There seem to be no limits now.

Or maybe he's criticizing the Obama administration because, oh, I don't know, he actually doesn't want the US attacked again thinks Obama's doing it all wrong. I guess Occam's Razor is no match for Panetta's Mind-Reader.

Yes, and Cheney being a former Defense Secretary.

Ordinarily a president would call on his CIA director to apologize for such a stupid, outrageous statement, but Panetta and Ozero are on the same page. Both lack class. CIA is now a political attack dog for the WH.

Dick Cheney is an honorable man. Why is he being attacked like this? why don’t they respond to the substance of what Cheney has been saying?

And then, Hillary Clinton said that she doesn’t consider Dick Cheney a reliable source of information. Good liberals apparently can only talk to and listen to each other.

I have NO doubt that Mr. Cheney isn’t wishing for an attack on the U.S. I do know that many on the left, including Democrat politicians, relished each time an American military person was killed in Iraq. Dick Cheney isn’t going to be running for anything. He has nothing to gain personally by speaking out.

This is a poorly-disguised precursor to blaming Cheney for inviting a terrorist attack. They’ll claim that Cheney invited it by advertising the Obama administration’s “alleged” vulnerability and unpreparedness.

They’ve gone from “Bush’s Fault!” to “Cheney’s Fault!” There’s some “change.”

The topsy-turvy thinking processes of libs never ceases to amaze me.

It's the opposite, Mr. Panetta! VP Cheney is sounding a warning because he, along with the rest of us, DO NOT want this country to be attacked again. Must EVERYTHING be about POLITICS with you libs!?! May God help us.

Not only did the libs wish we would be attacked again under Bush so they could blame him, they did everything they could to make sure our troops WERE attacked OVER AND OVER in Iraq and Afganistan because they wanted us to LOSE.

The libs are getting really nervous. 0zero’s poll numbers on the economy are dropping. The only high marks he got lately were on foreign policy, and with the Iran and N.Korea exploding, that won’t last long.

The wheels are starting to come off the 0zero Express and not even his State Run Media will be able to keep covering for him much longer.

So I wonder how long it took the Democrats to think that line of smear up? David Letterman took a few days to come up with “I was talking about the older daughter” line of BS. With all the evil things the left have said over the years, if you say something counter to their way, they will smear you. So Cheney should just “shut up” and let the left attack him? He has a RIGHT to go out in public and defend himself. Set the record straight for the BS the left is feeding the sheep!!!

The comment is not necessarily dumb or stupid.
Such a charge is listed on page 2 of the playbook Stalin used to destroy his politcal enemies.

Panetta scooted out of a comfortable D.C. office one step ahead of a federal investigation/Congressional inquiry. Our nation is at risk with people of his background in any federal office.

Panetta is out of his mind. Cheney doesn't want this country attacked and that's why he criticizes.

If he did want a terrorist attack and believed the administration was incompetent in protecting us, he wouldn't criticize, he would pretend to support the administration's policies.

What are they smokin' there in DC?

I don’t know, even Biden wasn’t dumb enough to bite on this. Bush was constantly criticized on his war on terror. “Experts” were always claiming, “When you kill one terrorist, ten more take his place.” There was constant criticism about U.S. ports not being protected. Yet no one, conservative or liberal said these people were wishing there was an attack to prove their point. If this does not become a major issue in the MSM- or at least Fox- than the country truly is lost.

Their response to criticism is lambasting their critics to the point of bordering on fear-mongering at the expense of national security. Politics over policy. Panetta comments are so reckless, he may actually replace Biden as the chief clown.
