I guess if you aren’t producing any at all it is terrible, and you would have to have some replacement hormones regardless of the risk. Better to have some quality of life than be bouncing off the walls. While there is risk, knowing that you can also watch carefully and manage that risk.

There’s always going to be a risk with me; I suppose; but I don’t like bouncing off the walls. I remember a friend who had it much worse than me. Hormones didn’t work with her and her body was totally messed up to begin with. I remember us chunking ice on ourselves in front of the a/c vent due to hot flashes. People thought we were crazy and I suppose we were; but when you have hot flashes; you feel good one minute litteraly and than really bad the next.

Estrone (3-hydroxy-13-methyl- 6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16- decahydrocyclopenta[a]phenanthren- 17- one) is estrone, whether it’s made in a horse, in a human, or in a lab. That’s the primary form of estrogen found in Premarin. There are smaller amounts of two others, which are not naturally present in humans, but no evidence that they have any harmful effects, and actually quite a bit of research showing that they’re likely to have some beneficial effects (though probably only if taken in larger quantities than the portions found in Premarin).

The problems with Premarin and other common forms of hormone replacement therapy (including “bioidentical” hormones) is that they all involve dosing with a few of the many downstream hormones in the overall web of steroidogenesis. *Some* of these can back-convert to *some* extent, but it’s still a very unnatural disruption of the hormone balance. In the absence of clear genetic abnormalities (e.g. defects in specific enzymes that convert the various steroids into different ones), it makes a lot more sense to supplement steroids that are much further upstream, e.g. pregnenolone and/or DHEA, and let the body choose how much of what to make from these raw materials. That approach is a lot more likely to result in normal, healthy, and properly balanced levels of the large numbers of steroid hormones we naturally have.

Most of the negative health effects that have been traced to hormone replacement therapy are not dependent on whether Premarin vs. products not containing any equine estrogens were used. There’s much stronger evidence that the standard practice of replacing estrogens without simultaneously replacing testosterone (which is upstream from the estrogens) is the key factor in negative health effects. DHEA is upstream from both testosterone and all the human forms of estrogen, and supplementing DHEA therefore does not bypass testosterone production, and flood the body with high levels of estrogen while it is still abnormally low in testosterone.

Even in perfectly healthy people, there is so much individual variation in hormone levels, including day-to-day and intraday variations, that attempts to craft individually customized products that dose many different hormones separately are only slightly more scientifically defensible than the estrogens-only approach. But to the extent that these custom formulations include significant amounts of upstream precursors and/or some of the further downstream androgens, they’re definitely better than taking estrogens only. If there’s any form of estrogen included at all, there’s no evidence to suggest that Premarin wouldn’t be a perfectly good source of that estrogen.

Ever heard of estriol? And, YES....anyone taking hormones should be BALANCING their hormones, including all the different kinds of Estrogen.....and be tested, regularly....I take VERY little estriol....more DHEA and Pregnenelone and Progesterone....

Luckily I have one of the premier hormone docs....and this article may be of interest to you....http://www.tahoma-clinic.com/hotflashes.shtml

What I know is.....I would as I said be in a wheel chair or dead without them.

I just heard they have a new cancer drug out for dogs; but only oncologists can have it.

Our Pet Health is NOT a drug (with lots of negative side affects,) it is all natural, OPC stands for Ologomeric Proanto Cianidins (mainly Pygnogonol)!

As referring to my post 54, in 2000 my mother-in-law ended up in the ER two times with congested heart failure, and similarly was discharged from the hospital; doctors verdict they could not do more for her with options go to a nursing home or home with oxygen tanks, etc. We took her in and gave her OPC-3 for human as well as HGH enhancer alias Secretegogues. Within three months she was nursed back to good health and has been in her own home ever since, religiously taken her supplements mornings and evenings!!

People were giving their pets OPC-3 so our umbrella company decided to develop this "Pet Health OPC" for dogs and cats with numerous success stories!!!

I take TESTOSTERONE CREAM which is derived from Mexican Wild Yam. Helps maintain lean body mass and I find it helps alleviate dry eyes. PROGESTERONE CREAM for women is also derived from wild yam.

It is cheap, about $30 for a 2 months supply. Background info: John R Lee M.D. http://www.johnleemd.com/ ANALYSIS BELOW SIDE EFFECT IN BOLD!

All-Natural Two Month Supply 4 oz/ 120 ml Active Ingredients: 5% Testosterone in 10x, 30x, and 100x potencies, Somatropin (HGH) in 10x, 30x and 100. potencies, IGF-1 30x and Pituitary Extract 30x.

Additional ingredients: Deionized Water, Lanol (vegetable origin), Montanov 68 (vegetable origin), Liposome Carrier System, Triple Strength Herbal Complex of: Tribulus Terrestris, Mucuna Pruriens, Saw Palmetto, 1% Micronized Dehydroepiandrosterone, Chrysin, Estrogen Blockers, Natural Omega Oils, Sepigel, Mandarin Red 011, Germall.

Cautions: MAY CAUSE FREQUENT ERECTIONS, INCREASED MASCULINITY, AND LOWER BODY FAT. Not for oral consumption. Not a lubricant. Women must not use during pregnancy or lactation. As with any product, in case of rash, discontinue use.

Directions: Apply crème to thin-skinned areas with the least amount of hair like behind the knees, inner arms, upper chest and neck. Apply 1/2 teaspoon or more daily for three weeks then stop for a week. Repeat. Apply 1 or 2 teaspoons crème 30 minutes before exercise or sexual activity. Both directions may be applied the same day. This product contains large amounts of high quality herbal extracts that may alter the product color and vary the color from batch to batch. This in no way affects the potency or quality of the product. Testosterone is a vital hormone required for libido, regulating fat, maintaining muscle mass, energy, bone density, regulating blood sugar, blood pressure and preventing depression. After the age of 25, the testosterone levels in men begin declining at an average of 1.25% per year resulting in fat deposits, sexual organ shrinkage, heart disease, loss of memory, muscle mass and libido. Testosterone Crème for Men is a potent synergistic formula that combines natural Homeopathy with safe powerful herbal extracts for healthy support of testosterone levels.

No caffeine, ephedrine, yohimbe or androstenedion

It’s not just the sexual organs that need these hormones, it’s the whole body. It certainly does make sense to bypass the liver, but in reality, injections are much more reliable and accurate than transdermal administration, and buttocks, hips, or abdomens are as good locations as any. But of course, many people are squeamish about giving themselves injections, and also the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies that are trying to corner the market on hormone therapy would have a much easier time convincing the public and politicians that injectable treatments are scary and dangerous, than transdermal treatments.

Both pills and injections have the advantage of ensuring that the person the dose is intended for — and only that person — gets the whole dose. There was a scary case reported a couple of years back of a young boy who started showing some weird hormonal effects, which were eventually traced to his father’s transdermal testosterone treatments (NOT applied to his genitals) — apparently enough had been rubbing off on the boy in the course of ordinary father-son contact that the boy got the effects.

Granted, I didn’t click on the link, but I think they should speak to those folks who have used compounding pharmacies, especially those women who use them to “get through” menopause.. Testosterone is included in some of the iinjections, and women feel a difference before they get to their cars after leaving the dr’s office. Women FILL the office of a local doc that provides the service— went for an unrelated reason, and spoke to the users of the treatment. In fact, that doc is so busy, he had to train another doc office so patients wouldn’t have to be turned away.

Not enough dr’s utilize the service, they are just closed minded.

Well...yes....the whole Endocrine system is affected by or through or with Hormones.....which affects everything...heart, lungs, muscles, brain, etc...

I’ll take the creams, thanks....don’t want to deal with shots....had one doc offer me the “youth hormone” (can’t remember the name right now) through injections....NO THANKS.

Hormones applied to sexual areas get to the person they are intended for....as long as you avoid application before ...um....intimacy with your spouse. I don’t use the hormones on arms or thighs, etc....like Suzanne Somers....I’m surprised she does.

That doesn't explain or dismiss the cancer causing effects which seem to escalate with hormone therapy, and young women taking birth control pills, although the later is still hotly debated.

You can't trust what the drug companies tell you though.

I am very skeptical when it comes to drug companies.

My wife was a young woman once upon a time, and she was taking birth control pills for a couple years before we decided to have kids. Then when she was 27, she developed breast cancer.
After we went through all of that, never again did she ever take birth control pills, and never again did she develop any further problems.

While the jury may still be out on the birth control issue, I think it will eventually rule that those things should not be taken by young women.

I think that there is much we don't know about hormones, and what all they effect in the body, how the body regulates them and for what reasons.

What Makes Feminene® Female Support Formula Unique?

Women balance careers, families, friends and commitments. In addition to the everyday juggling act, some women also experience the effects of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and/or menopause. Several scientific studies demonstrate how select herbs, vitamins and minerals help to promote optimal female health, especially during times of PMS or menopause, without the harmful side effects of unnatural alternatives.

Premenstrual syndrome or PMS occurs for up to two weeks prior to menstruation. PMS has been associated with a deficiency or excess of hormones, nutritional deficiencies and stress, as well as other nutritional and lifestyle factors. Symptoms of PMS include increased levels of anger and stress, bloating, breast tenderness and sensitivity, abdominal discomfort, sadness, short-term fatigue, head discomfort, hostility, trouble sleeping, joint discomfort, mood swings, nervousness and tension. Menopause is the ceasing of the monthly female menstrual cycle. Some common symptoms of menopause are emotional and physical changes, mood swings, sleeplessness, night sweats, and hot flashes. The average age of menopause in the United States is 52 years old; yet the age of onset varies and can occur anytime between 40 and 60. Prior to menopause, some women experience perimenopause, a time period that can include many of the symptoms of menopause before menstruation stops.

Feminene Female Support Formula is a natural supplement combined of 11 specially selected herbs, including black cohosh, don quai, soy extract, St. John’s Wort, evening primrose and additional vitamins to help support stamina. Feminene® helps to alleviate mild symptoms of menopause, helps counteract mild adverse effects of premenstrual syndrome and helps stabilize mood. Feminine helps women keep their bodies in balance, resulting in peace of mind. When you are juggling so many things in life, the last thing you want is to have hormones and mood swings to deal with as well.

Related terms: Feminene® Female Support Formula, Feminene, PMS, menopause, hot flashes, mood, hormones, black cohosh, soy isoflavones, menopausal symptoms, pre-menopause, dong quai, evening primrose, female health, women’s health, pre-menstrual syndrome.

Aren't transdermal patches available for hormones? They deliver a good regular dose of whatever drug you need.

I was on Fentanyl patches for a few years when I was in a lot of agony. They worked pretty good. Used in a three patch rotation, they can deliver and maintain constant level of drug in your system comfortably.

That wouldn't work so well for women who have lost their hormone production due to hysterectomy where both ovaries are removed.

There are no hormone producing glands to keep healthy with a regiment of herbs and vitamins and eyes of gnats.

I suppose they are....but, I control the amount of cream I use...and can vary it as needed (I don’t do that very much, however.) I could apply the cream twice a day (which I do with progesterone)....but, I don’t and do fine with my prescribed doses. AND, it’s a little hard to use a transdermal patch on my private parts....LOL.

Birth control pills do NOT balance the different types of estrogens....just like Premarin does not. I don’t think BC pills would work if they did. They purposely mess up a woman’s system to prevent pregnancy. Sooooo.....they are playing with the body in ways the body wasn’t meant to be played with.

I too am very skeptical of drug companies. I am NOT however, skeptical about hormones when they are responsibly used, and the individual undergoes proper testing.

LoL! you wouldn't put them there, LOL! Just on your abdomen or side. They release directly into your bloodstream and would be just as effective as cream based med on soft sensitive tissue where blood vessels are near the surface and absorb the medication quickly.
