Another woman shot herself at a Central Florida gun range Saturday in a suicide attempt, authorities said.

The woman rented a handgun and filled out paperwork indicating she had no mental-health problems, wasn't on drugs and had no other conditions or situations to preclude her from shooting safely, said John Ritz, manager of the east Orange County range. Like other customers, she also was read the safety rules.

The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. at East Orange Shooting Sports on Gardner Street, east of Winter Park. There was a suicide there several years ago.

Just how big of a moron do you have to be to go through the trouble of registering at a gun range to off yourself? This story gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “get a room”.

I know many are thinking what I’m thinking, that the left will use this woman’s stupid actions to push yet more restrictive rules and regulations on shooting ranges. If she lives she should have her ass sued off.

The last time I went to a gun range, it took about five minutes to 'register'. Not a big deal.

Just what I was thinking. EVERY story involving guns (but especially one like this) brings out the gun control crowd like flies to doo-doo.

She didn’t register a gun she rented a gun.
A friend of mine who owned a gun shop and had a range next to it closed the range after a HIV positive “guy” did the same thing. The family of the “guy” blamed him.

I had an annual membership at my indoor shooting range in San Diego. One of the employees related a story that happened at the range. A customer rented a 12 gauge shotgun and a box of shells. After entering the range area, he banged on the glass to get the employee's attention. A moment later, he blew his head off with the shotgun. Suffice to say, they had to close the range for the rest of the day to clean up. San Diego PD confiscated the shotgun as "evidence". It was a most disturbing event. Especially considering the discharge occurred behind the firing line. Others could have been hit.

She didn't own a gun, obviously.

Cases like this are far more rare than suicides by train, but I haven't heard anyone suggesting that we should ban trains. In fact, the Greenies want us to build more railroads. Maybe we should bring this up every time the gun control advocates use a shooting to push for more gun laws.

Brings to mind a line from Vegas Vacation.

Griswald: “What can I do with $5?”

Marty the Dealer: “Gee, I don’t know. Buy a bullet and rent a gun?”

This is a very reasonable thing to do if "registration" (filling a simple form) takes a few minutes, but buying a handgun requires filling ten times as much paperwork plus waiting two weeks to get the gun.

In CA, for example (don't know about FL) you also need to pass a handgun safety test. The safety test might be hard to do right if she never saw a handgun, and the fact that she didn't own one strongly suggests that.

gosh... i hope more liberals don’t try this.. it would give gun ranges a bad name. really. if maybe, 10 liberals per day per gun range tried it, it could have a drastic effect on the gun ranges.

When we lived in CA the local gun range stopped renting guns after this (woman committed suicide) happened once.

That's what is starting to happen here in Orlando.

This idiot tried to off herself at a range that is within 10 miles of another range that had three people commit suicide in the past few months.

Maybe we can get Hussein to issue everyone a gun and two rounds (in case they miss the first time) and after the smoke clears we'd have fewer liberals and a smaller Medicaid bill.

Prayers for the owners, employees and other customers of the shooting range, as well as the attempted suicide.
