First lady Michelle Obama said Tuesday that struggling communities shouldn't look to government alone for help.
Obama told a luncheon of Washington-area service and philanthropy groups that member work is key to making a difference in their neighborhoods and schools. She said leaders should take advantage of a recently signed public service law to engage new volunteers and put them to work.
"Washington can only do so much," Obama said. "Communities are built and rebuilt by regular people."
She said the national service law would funnel thousands of volunteers to such nonprofit groups. She warned groups to be ready for new volunteers and then use them help others in real ways.

What bothers me is that this volunteer service seems to require that teenagers work for free. They need real jobs, not make-work. And they need to be paid, so that they know they can hold a real job, and do not need to resort to mooching off parents or selling drugs. I also strongly object to the proliferation of “internships” that expect college students to donate their time for the summer. People who get a real pay check know the value of their time, and when they volunteer, it’s a real gift, offered for something that really matters to them. I strongly question whether the mandatory volunteerism will result in any more motivated workers than involuntary servitude did.
[And this is one of the issues where I can really tell that I am not the liberal democrat that I once was.]

A govt. bent on revolutionary change using deconstruction techniques familiar for decades cannot rebuild. Alinsky teaches “there is only the fight”...nothing about recovery or reconstruction at all. Lots of Alinskyites floating Alinsky-kites in the current administration. The Dims are all about racial division and continual chaos in American culture and infrastructure and institutions. Oh, M Obama does not intend to rebuild at all. Just like going from Windows XP to the Linux OS, M Obama wishes to go from a Constitutional OS to Marxist 101 OS complete with a religiously endowed head of state blessed with lifetime office on the backs of formerly free citizenry. The administration is accelerating its efforts with blinding speed which will increase the chances of self-imposed derailment and even loss of focus. Iran may be, in its own way, giving the administration a temporary loss of focus and even offering derailment of the administrations appeasement plans and established gestures.
In the same way, the US may wake up and not go along with the current administrations plans for change, which have been previously articulated incorrectly, are becoming disagreeably apparent. The POTUS apparently believes profit to be not moral. He believes he is the best judge of business and personal profit levels. Believing as he does , no recovery can be realistically supported by the President.
Can I volunteer a thought?.....Please get out of the White House!
