Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has acknowledged an extramarital affair with a campaign staffer in a statement released by his office. "I deeply regret and am very sorry for my actions," said Ensign. He is expected to announce the affair at a press conference at 6:30 pm tonight. The affair, which was with a woman who worked for both Ensign's re-election campaign and his Battle Born leadership political action committee, began in December 2007 and ended in August 2008. Ensign's wife, Darlene, said that the couple's "marriage has become stronger" and added: "I love my husband."

Well, if you are a liberal legislator, it is, as Rush might say, a “resume builder.”

What is it with DC types who just can't stop themselves from throwing a party in their pants that we are all forced to hear about? Can't they just hire a discreet hooker and be done with it?

We elect them for their "judgment" and then they act like irresponsible teenagers. Can't we do better than this?

He is straight and was not busted in a public bathroom.

He must have bought her some really nice jewelry.

Just once -- and mind you I'm not advocating violence here -- but just once I'd like to see one of those aggrieved wives at one of those press conferences stick a fork into her spouse's forehead.... the way Elaine did to an ex-boyfriend on Seinfeld.

It's always the Ensign.

But McHale has ways of consoling himself.

Yea, I'm sure that's what my wife would say as I counted the stars swirling over my head after being planted by the iron skillet.

And then I would be hearing from the divorce lawyer.

Honestly though, it would crush my wife to cheat on her and I would never want to do that to her.

Ensign is a pig.

Because one of the former staffers (the husband?) was attempting to blackmail him.

And what kind of classified information did this guy have access to?

Caligula could have been President in the 90s.

Get off of IT! In the Demorat Party, He would be a HERO! This happened over a year ago and is old news. Kennedy drowned his Mistress, or friend as he referred to Mary Jo. We should be thrilled that Ensign has some Red Blood running thru his arteries still! McCain was embalmed years ago:-)

Yeah, having politicians with access to secrets about our national security, becoming targets for blackmail just give me a nice warm fuzzy feeling all over, what about you?

This ought to keep you from voting for him.

There is nothing to chose between a person who deceives us for another, or who deceives another for ourselves. Plainly stated, Ensign is not trustworthy.

We do, regrettably. With the media firmly in liberal control, a 2012 Palin campaign will be deluged with a rehash of all the 2008 puerile jokes before it gets out of the gate.

Someone fresh needs to emerge though, or the candidacy will probably fall in Romney’s lap. I really don’t want to see that happen.

"They get elected and seem to contract a form of downzipperitis."

No offense to you faithful men, but one does not need to be elected to anything to catch it. Some are never cured.
