On Tuesday June 16, 2009 the Board of Directors of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) met in its offices in Crystal City, located in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss the pressing issues they face. Top on its agenda was to consider whether it would continue airing religious programming or allow any more such programming to be aired on its member stations in the future.
In explaining its mission on its own website the Corporation notes that PBS is a private, nonprofit corporation, founded in 1969, whose members are Americas public TV stations. PBS provides quality TV programming and related services to 356 noncommercial stations serving all 50 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and American Samoa.
On that same website the visitor is welcomed with these words PBS, with its 356 member stations, offers all Americans from every walk of life the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds through television and online content." However, as a result of yesterdays meeting, an entire segment of Americans will soon be unwelcome in the PBS family and their viewpoint will be censored. Apparently "religious Americans are second class citizens. The Board of this Public Corporation which derives much of its funding from the US Government has decided that the few programs they have which could be considered religious will soon be phased out and no new ones will be allowed.

They won’t get any of my support.
Republicans had the chance to de-fund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, but they blew it. They were too afraid of losing power. Gee, how did that work out?
Another stoopid thing that only exist through taxpayer theft
When our government is involved, it will always limit and control speech as it sees fit.
Silver lining!!! No more global warming BS - that’s CLEARLY a religion!
Never-Gore!
GLENN: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona.
She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership:
Two, the TARP Bill, I want it repealed
They want to start persecuting religious people more. So they cut off there ability to speak out about it.
PBS is a private organization. Who owns it?
The Democrat Party.
Total neutrality is required.
That means that the PBS governing board is PROHIBITED from even addressing this question, and is certainly not empowered to write rules regarding religion or religious speech.
As far as the Constituion is concerned SPEECH IS SPEECH, like it or not. State neutrality is almost an afterthought to that notion.
I'm pretty sure this policy can be crushed in the federal courts if anyone cares to challenge it.
Most likely it would be better to simply spend the money on getting rid of PBS.
I guess I’m banning public broadcasting.
Maybe it is a good thing I don’t work there anymore.
Earth worship and new age, well that’s different.
The system is banning voluntary local content. Sounds fascist to me.
Interesting. I clicked the link for the petition and got a message saying the servers were overwhelmed by the responses this has generated!
THE LETTER PING!
