If democrats tax health benefits they will exempt unions

Yes, you read that right. When democrats floated the idea of taxing employer sponsored health care benefits the unions howled, as they have better health care benefits than just about anyone but politicians. Kimberly Strassel calls it a union payoff. That sounds about right.

Mr. Baucus, the Finance Committee chairman who is helping lead the Obama health effort, is still deciding what to include in the bill. But his far bigger headache remains how to pay for this blowout. He and other Democrats have been inching toward the taboo benefits-tax, putting them on a collision course with liberal special interests like unions. Mr. Baucus’s newest solution? A union payoff.

Love it. Another brick the wall of our upcoming repeat of what’s happening in Iran.

They will also exempt all federal employees, including Congress

Communists partially rule thru unions when they can. The ILWU in Hawaii was communist dominated from the forties to the Hawaiian gubernatorial win by a Republican in 2001 or 2002. Unions are favored by the CPUSA platform of 1963.

The only economic recovery planned is in the selected corporate arena and for socialist minded organizations such as favored unions. All winners and losers are being selected now to make the “trains of Ob1” run on time. Change is an understatement. A complete change of the OS (operating system) of the US is in progress, worse than going from Windows XP to Linux.

In amazes how with each page turn in Mein Kampf I begin to see more and more resemblance to BHO’s own alliance with union thuggery.

“If I get taxed the union schmuck next to me better be taxed as well.”

This is a tactically bone head play. It’s so blatantly unfair that it will generate a tsunami of opposition.

The title of this thread may be deceptive. My understanding is that under such a benefits-tax scenario the medical coverage provided to unions under any EXISTING union contracts will remain untaxed — but once those contracts elapse the benefits are treated the same as all others.

Everybody who is taxes should sue the Gov. in a class action on the Equal Protection Clause since this would clearly be unconstitutional.

This is one way the rats will use to try to unionize all businesses.

If unions are exempt from paying taxes on health care, and the "Employee Free Choice Act"/ card check passes, then what? It would be crushing to union-free businesses if they are hit with that double whammy.

Of course they won’t tax their OWN excellent health premiums, that you and I pay for.
The democrat party has become the privileged elite, the intelligentsia. A small group rules the country and doles out privileges to itself and its minions, while the ordinary slobs slave and work to pay for it all.
The democrat party is the communist party with an innocent-sounding name.

Mr. Baucus officially floated his plans for a tax this week, only with a surprising twist: His levy will not apply to union plans, at least for the duration of existing contracts.

We should start our own “Union”, let everybody that wants in pay $1 a year in “dues”, then we can be exempt, too.
