First gay couple to become fathers in UK expecting fourth child

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER 18th June 2009

Britain's first gay fathers have announced that they are having a fourth child on Valentine's Day.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow sparked outrage when they used donated eggs and surrogate mothers in the USA to have their nine-year-old twins Aspen and Saffron and five-year-old son Orlando.

The pair from Danbury in Essex, battled the American authorities to become the first gay couple to have both their names on their children's birth certificates.

Raising children to be perverts. Why isn't this felony child abuse? A society gone mad. True, as the Greeks wold say, "those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first drive them insane"

No, that’s cheating. They have to do it the traditional way.

On the other hand, if one of them inseminates the other’s feces, the resulting child will most likely grow up to be a politician...and do we really need any more of those?

Now that adoption agencies seem to be seeking out gay couples to raise these poor children, us conservatives have a serious moral decision to make:

Do we tell a teenage to give up her kid for adoption (considering what might be in store), or do we tell her to keep the kid (obviously abortion is out).

I say have her keep the kid. It’s quite likely that grandparents will help in the raising and it is possible that a father may appear in her life. It’s a tough call though...if only there were a way for the girl to demand only straight parents, if the kid is put up for adoption.

[criminal child abuse]?

I believe in natural conception, but your added encapsulated tag might be a bit beyond that which is required.

I am disturbed by names of parents on the bc. Shouldn’t even if donated; some kind of identity of the real parents be made just in case of some medical problem?

Get with the plan, man. The flawed hetero-normative reproductive process hasn't improved in billions of years.

Now with the help of science, commercial utero-medical enterprise, and a “child friendly” court system, the old outdated reproductive methodologies have given way to things nature couldn't imagine. Progressive!

Yes it is celebrity promoted child abuse. It needs to called out for what it is and stop all this nonsensical political correctness.

I see the dilemma...but as the mother of a child with a truly evil and disturbed father (no, I didn’t know he was evil when we were married), I vote for having the girl keep the child and raise it with help from her family, because an absent father is far better than an evil one and involved one(or two).

Sadly, that’s the policy of couples who are one man, one woman, too. That’s what has led us down this road: Married couples (one man, one woman) started using donors and surrogates but putting only their names on the birth certificate. At lease one same-sex couple won a court case to have both their names on the birth certificate based on the fact that other couples (one man, one woman) are allowed to do that when they use donors/surrogates.

It’s now a crazy, mixed-up world, and birth certificates mean nothing anymore.

Agreed. If she wants to give her child to adoption, at least urge a private adoption to grandparents, adult siblings, or relatives who are trustworthy.

The "fathers" are "expecting" children?? Really?? So, they squirt into a tube, the squirt goes into some chick, she carries the unfortunate fetus to term, squeezes out the kid, gives kid to "fathers". O Brave New World to have such people in it!

Stop the world and let me off.

May I make a suggestion and encourage families to buck their preconceived notions about NOT adding to their family via adoption and seriously consider it.

Most women considering giving their baby up for adoption will choose a traditional family setting for their baby. It may well be that there are not enough people seeking to adopt in a certain market or there are more and more adoption agencies that are “untraditional” starting to erupt. Either way if traditional families would go through some challenges getting the paperwork done the result would be a hundredfold of love.

I also realize in some of these settings women are purposing to get pregnant and give their baby up to a gay couple because of some ill placed affection for these “poor men” who can’t just have babies the old fashioned way. The gay lesbians have the sperm bank option and apparently use that to expand their families.

...way for the girl to demand only straight parents...

A private adoption might solve that problem.

It has now been documented . . . I think posted on FR even . . .

that researchers on the issue of how many children of homosexuals turn out to be homosexuals . . .

many to most such researchers being gay . . .

that the researchers cooked the books and withheld data . . .

and that their own real data documented that children of homosexuals are 4 to 10 TIMES as likely to become homosexual

DOH!

Bob, if the grandparents of a teenage girl can adopt the child then that is what should be done. You know and I know a 15 year old can not raise that child. If the Grandparents can and are willing, then I say they should. After all that is their grandbaby. This would mean that their girl loses full custody of the child even after she becomes an adult, but is it for the better. If the grandparents can't adopt it...then are there other family members who would?

Birthmothers and their support system need to seek out traditional adoption agencies, not these progressive ones if they really care. Often they are walking into a zone they never have gone and are way too intimidated by their ignorance to shop around. Educate folks when you can.
