(Vanity) Does anyone know the back story on Yazdi?

I've been puzzling over a seemingly incongruous report. That Ayatollah Yazdi, whom I have always heard was a hardcore attack dog/enforcer for the Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, had been arrested! Thios does not seem to correlate.
I take all these uncorroborated reports with several grains of salt..( at one point I heard that Rafsanjani had been arrested, and taken to the residence of the Supreme leader...But now we hear he has been hiding out in Qom...)
But he (Yazdi) like Rafsanjani, has been conspiuous in their absence from the scenes.
Anyone know anything more than I do?

All I know is nothing in Iran is ever what it seems. Deception is a way of life. It seems to me this whole election farce was staged by Khameni. No matter which of his stooges ends up as president, my bet is he ends up with his power consolidated and the most vocal dissidents dead or arrested.

My mistake. I was confusing my Yazdis.
Professor Yazdi, former confidante to Khomenei, anf in the reformer camp, was arrested.
*Ayatollah* Yazdi, member of the ‘Assembvy of God’, Khameneis enforcer, was *not* arrested.
