JERUSALEM The Hawaii church where President Obama attended Sunday school as a boy has "always" been involved in political activism, the church's pastor told WND in an interview.
"The Sunday school has always been and to this day still is involved in political activism," said Rev. Mike Young, pastor of First Unitarian Church of Honolulu.
"We are involved in community organizing, helping churches in foreign countries, social justice issues, like making sure inmates get dinner," said Young, speaking from Hawaii.
While Obama's membership as an adult in the controversial Trinity United Church of Christ has received widespread media attention, almost nothing has been reported about his Sunday school attendance at First Unitarian, a far-left activist church that may have helped provide the president's initial political education.
First Unitarian, a member of the Unitarian Universalist denomination, served as a sanctuary for draft dodgers and was strongly tied to the Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, during the time Weatherman radical Bill Ayers was a leader in that organization. The Weathermen was an offshoot of the SDS.

Ping.
Wonder if there is a smoking gun in here somewhere?
The church notoriously granted sanctuary to U.S. military deserters recruited by the SDS. The deserters’ exploits at the church were front page news for months in 1969, including articles in the New York Times.
Eventually, the police raided the church as well as another nearby Honolulu worship house, Crossroads, that was also providing sanctuary to draft dodgers

Tin Foil Hat Time:
Bernardine Dohrn and husband Bill Ayers were terrorists together. During their underground days, Dohrn made the FBI’s 10 most wanted list. Upon surfacing from hiding in 1980, Dohrn got three years of probation and a fine.
Charges against Ayers were dropped.
In 1984 Bernardine Dohrn was employed by the Sidley Austin law firm in Chicago. She left the firm in 1988. Dohrn had been hired by Howard Trienens, head of the firm and an associate of Thomas G. Ayers, Bill Ayers’ father. When the firm hired Dohrn she had never practiced law, had been out of law school for 17 years and wasn’t licensed to practice law. She had successfully passed her bar exam but the ethics committee turned her down because of her criminal/terrorist record.
Ayers father, Thomas G. Ayers, was CEO of Commonwealth Edison as well as a trustee of Tribune Co. and chairman of the board of Northwestern University. Sidley Austin was the longtime outside counsel for Tom Ayers’ company, Commonwealth Edison. Ayers was a friend and associate of Howard Trienans, head of Sidley Austin.
Michelle (Robinson) Obama interned at Sidley Austin, reportedly at the same time Bernardine Dohrn was employed there. In 1989 Michelle graduated from law school and became a full time employee at Sidley Austin.
Barack Obama became a friend and political associate of Bernardine Dohrn’s husband, Bill Ayers, whose father had serious influence at Sidley Austin.
In 1989 Barack Obama, while attending Harvard Law School, became a summer intern at Sidley Austin where he met Michelle Robinson who was assigned the role of Barack’s mentor.
Bernardine Dohrn left Sidley Austin and became a professor at Northwestern University’s School of Law, where Bill Ayers father and Howard Trienans, head of Sidley Austin,
served together on the university’s board of trustees. Ayers was chairman of the board, then handed the post off to Trienens in 1986.
In 1995, Ayers and Dohrn hosted a party reported to be a political “coming out” party for Barack Obama who was just entering Chicago politics.
In 2008 Barack Obama said Bill Ayers was just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.”
