We ceased to be one nation a long time ago when we became a heterogeneous society. Iran, with all its problems, is still very much a united country and will survive long after the US and Europe. Iranians still believe in an Iran.
One cannot say that about the US where there are plenty of jihadists (and more coming in) and large groups who have no intention to assimilate but rather change the country to resemble the one they just left. Then there are those who downright hate this country and want it destroyed.
