Sen. Barbara Boxer, California Democrat, gave an Army brigadier general an order this week during a committee hearing: Call me "senator."
Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh of the Army Corps of Engineers had addressed male senators on the Environment and Public Works Committee as "sir" during the Tuesday hearing. When the time came to speak with Mrs. Boxer, the panel's chairwoman, he called her "ma'am."
Mrs. Boxer quickly interrupted him.
"Do me a favor, can you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am'?" Mrs. Boxer pointedly asked the general. "It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it. Thank you."

Considering how I presently regard the US Senate, and Barbera Boxer's slimy behavior, I'd say she richly deserves to be called 'senator.' I personally would rather be called a cockroach. I'd find it less insulting.

Back in college there was a professor who once was called DOCTOR so and so by a student. He took the student to task in front of the entire class. “It is MISTER so and so. I am NOT a doctor! I am a professional engineer and dam*** proud of it. If I wanted to be a doctor I could.” He was quite the control freak.
A few weeks later I asked a question of the other professor that co-taught the class, and called HIM doctor.
“What did you call me?”
“Ummm - Doctor?”
“I am NOT a Doctor! But, Dr. Babcock sounds good. Doctor Babcock - I like that! Okay - your question?”
All of that while the other guy looked on - pretty funny!
(I later found out he was going for a doctorate - at the age of 60+!)

Does Boxer want to rewrite the military code of conduct. Last I checked it’s “ma’am and sir”.
It didn't matter to me what type of Doc he was, because he went over and helped her out
until the rescue guys got there. The rest of the guys thought he scammed us.

I was just looking at her electoral history at Wikipedia and noticed that if the Libertarian and American Independent candidates for senate hadn’t run in ‘92, Boxer likely would have lost. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t have as I despise the two-party system, but it would have been nice not to have to deal with this B!tc%.
