Hopefully they won't want to fire on their own - but then, look at Tienanmen Square and how that work out...They will bring in the troops from the more remote areas of the country, that tend to be more supportive of the government.
That's exactly what happened in Tienanmen Square, they didn't use the Beijing-based PLA Troops, they brought in troops from the remote areas, he knew nothing about what had been going on for the past month, other than what the government told them.

Has Mousavi called for a protest march on Saturday? From what Ive read, it sounds like some of the Iranians are expecting more protests and bloodshed tomorrow beyond what has occurred to this point. The Iranian leadership has demanded an end to protests. Mousavi has called for the biggest protest ever to occur tomorrow at 4pm (8:30 am EDT). If the Iranian leadership permit it to happen, they will look weak. Tomorrow is "High Noon".

Thank you. I hope for their safety, too. I pray for their souls.

I was unaware of that particular detail. Thanks.
Iran is not as big as China though, and communications are different these days. I think there's reason to be optimistic, if at least only somewhat.

And like ‘High Noon,’ 0 is the deputy that deserted. Hopefully others won’t, so maybe not so much like ‘high Noon.’
