WASHINGTON (AFP) A US Navy destroyer is tracking a North Korean ship possibly carrying banned cargo as part of international efforts to enforce UN sanctions against Pyongyang, according to a US defense official.
The USS John S. McCain was shadowing the vessel, the Kang Nam, the first ship to be monitored under a UN resolution imposed a week ago that bans arms shipments to and form North Korea, the official said.
"We are keeping an eye on that ship," the official, who asked not to be named, told AFP.

Well, at least now we know who stole McCain's strawberries.
I thought the Kang Nam was a Klingon vessel?
“While the USS John S. McCain won’t actually stop, board, or otherwise engage ships carrying nuclear weapons, it will ‘reach across the isle’ and join the North Koreans in condemning capitalism.”
I would guess the Nork ship would feel confident giving them the finger too.
You all can make fun of this, as you wish.
We do not ‘know’ what is on the ship, as we cannot ‘search’ it.
However, we know exactly what is on the ship.
NK is daring us to do something about it.
The problem with (obama) claiming to be ‘the one’ (messiah?) is what do you do when the devil shows up?
Lets hope the USS McCain doesn’t reach across the aisle like its namesake.
the Kang Nam should be torpedoed , it’s radio room shot to bits with a Phalanx ,and any survivors machine gunned in the water . Let them wonder what happened to it . Say nothing publicly
I was making fun of the ship's feckless namesake.
Its named after Admiral McCain
Nothing. Especially if you are the devil!
Sounds like what the Spetznaz call “pulverizing”. Not a bad idea. Anybody seen the NK ship? Nope. No, not me. Not a glimpse of her. Must of hit a reef, or something. Maybe a UFO?
this is the way to win this war with NK
and it IS a war .
We need to end it , we need to win it .
Wasn’t this ship (the John McCain) just involved with a ChiCom sub, the underwater folks running into and detaching a towed sonar array?
This was within the last week, I think.
Who’s watching whom, indeed!
