If no one else will say it, I will. Sotomayor isn’t intelligent enough to sit on the Supreme Court. She’s not just a ‘lightweight,’ she’s a ‘featherweight’ who could not keep up with the rest of the Supreme Court Justices . . . without a tutor.

This is the standard charge that liberal activists make against Justice Thomas. He might be the best legal mind currently on the court.

There is ample evidence that Sotomayor is not up to the job of being an appelate court judge, much less a Supreme Court justice.

I am biased toward thinking Justice Scalia is the best legal mind on the court, but legal commentators (on the left and right) have described Justice Thomas as the best legal writer (i.e., clear with tight reasoning).

Given her past record, Ms. Sotomayor will likely be the worst writer on the court in many years, unless she picks unusually talented clerks.

A lot of court-watchers seem to be swayed by how active a particular Justice is in asking questions of the attorneys. Thomas is usually pretty quiet from what I’ve read.

Ain’t it interesting how Starr suddenly became a hero of the left? Seems to me I remember leftists like this author being somewhat miffed at Starr a few years ago!

You mean another Washington insider backs Sotomayor.

Hey, Kenneth how about Miguel Rodriguez for the court? He was a fellow willing to speak "truth to power".

I tend to evaluate public figures in large part based on their religious proclivities. ‘Nuf said.

Yeah. Thomas has disdained the oral questioning as intellectual showboating and game playing (i.e., getting other Justices to see how stupid or cogent a particular argument may be).

IIIRC, he has stated that all the information they need is in the written briefs, which he apparently reads and considers very carefully.

#28. The MSM consider him a conservative icon, that is still the devil incarnate to them. Still, Starr has always had pretty serious conservative credentials.

The fact that Ken Starr has endorsed Sonja Sodameyer is reason enough for genuine conservatives to worry.

Starr is a member of the Federalist Society just as is Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito.

The Federalist Society is the cornerstone of the VRWC.
