'At least 19 killed by gov't forces in Iran clashes Saturday'
Jerusalem Post ^ | 6/20/2009 | Sabina Amidi

CNN on Saturday night reported that at least 19 people had died as a result of gunfire from government forces during the demonstrations in Teheran, Shiraz and Isfehan. The news network based the report on eyewitness accounts of medical officials in Teheran's hospitals.

CNN also quoted unconfirmed reports that put the actual death toll at 150.

A week of massive street protests over the results of Iran's presidential elections escalated into open defiance of the entire regime on Saturday, when thousands took to the streets of Teheran chanting "Death to the Dictatorship."

Ignoring the Friday warning by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to call off the protests and accept the official contention that incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the June 12 elections, Reformist opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi insistently renewed his demand that the vote be annulled, and indicated that he was prepared for "martyrdom" should he lose his life as a consequence of his and his supporters' defiance.

....It was not clear if police were firing live ammunition, although voices audible in video footage from Teheran claimed live bullets were being fired. There were reports of several dozen casualties, and the video clips showed several protesters who appeared to be badly hurt. "They are killing my brothers," one man is heard crying in footage apparently filmed in Teheran on Saturday.

Latest reports shortly before press time said protesters had set fire to a gas station in the capital.

Has Obama had anything to say about events in Iran since the election?

Could this be the test that Joe Biden said would occur? Remember Joe said some events would test this new president.

“CNN also quoted unconfirmed reports that put the actual death toll at 150.”

Poor people. They just want to be free.

At least CNN is finally doing some real reporting!

I just want to be free too.

The difference is, unlike the Iranians, I have firearms.

I'm waiting for the Ayatollah Obama and his Congressional Jihadists to send their Goons to take them away from me.

Screw Twitter when you have Smith and Wesson on your side.

“”So where’s the Johnny-on-the-spot United Nations?””

OR that great peacemaker Jimmy Carter...I heard he was in the area smoothing the way for more terrorism. Can’t we keep him from reentering the US?

The more the Iranian government cracks down, the more power they put in the hands of the dissident factions that are rioting throughout Iran not just in the capital. To the Iranian people, I say, good for you. Show the world that you can do this. The power is in your hands. Now is the time to use it. God bless you all who fight for liberty, justice and freedom.

As our media continues to run rough shot over reality:

Young Iranian dissident, Amir Fakhravar, formerly jailed protestor in Iran. Says protests are about freedom, are against the supreme leader (they have no particular love for Mousavi).

It should be overshadowed. The fact that our illustrious Dear Leader only FINALLY spoke out today really shows what a gutless POS he really is.

Disgusted.

The best thing I have heard today is that the Iran military just could be on the side of these brave Citizens! The Government forces causing the deaths and trying to suppress this revolt are said to be Arabic speaking and not from Iran.

You know I feel kind of embarrassed that I may TALK a good game of dissent but those people are sacrificing their lives for freedom.
