CAIRO They're the most feared men on the streets of Iran.
The pro-government Basij militia has held back its full fury during this week's street demonstrations. But witnesses say the force has unleashed its violence in shadowy nighttime raids, attacking suspected opposition sympathizers with axes, daggers, sticks and other crude weapons.
At least once, the militiamen opened fire on a crowd of strone-throwing protesters. State media said seven were killed.
If supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei authorizes a crackdown on protesters calling for a new presidential election, as he warned on Friday, the Basij will almost certainly be out in force.
Formed during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Basij became one of Iran's most zealous forces in the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, often leading charges through minefields.
The group, which is controlled by the elite Revolutionary Guard, also was unleashed on dissidents in the 1990s, when teenagers and young men in plainclothes beat protesting students with batons. It's an intimidation tactic opposition supporters say has been revived during this week's outpouring of anti-government protest.

“Obama erases pro-democracy funding for Iran.”
If ACORN/Civilian Nat’l Defense Forces/AmeriCorps/Brownshirts come after us with axes, knives or even guns, they’ll have a much rougher time of it. Just a word to the wise...
It’s funny the liberals see it exactly the opposite as we do, and with no less sincerity. They believe that Bush’s forceful methods were ‘warmongering’ and that Obama’s caution is ‘smart diplomacy.’ Nevermind that Bush liberated 50 millions Muslims and Obama’s approach does nothing to help those kids in the streets of Iran. Amazing.
“Basij”: Persian word for Acorn.

When I first heard BO discuss this so called civilian force, this is exactly what I thought would be created. These thugs dress plain clothes and are vicious zealouts.
They would be Barack’s wet dream, I am sure. He likes to go after people that oppose him...how perfect.
I agree that they need weapons. They are using stones against the basiji who have guns, axes, and clubs. That doesn't cut it.
They use malatov cocktails against those who are dropping acid from helicopters. I thank our founding fathers that I would be able to defend myself with something more than a can of hairspray with a bic lighter held in front of it if someone comes into my home.
Prayers for the Iranians who dying for freedom.
oops, past my bedtime. Prayers for the Iranians who are dying for freedom.
And a curious fact about these Basij thugs is being kept muzzled too:
The mullah’s sockpuppet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was a TRAINER of the Basij during the eight year Iraq-Iran War, when children were recruited into the Basij for the purpose of being human mine sweepers for the Iranian army.
The children were given little plastic keys that were hung around their necks, and told that when they died on the battlefield, that the keys would admit them into the presence of ‘allah’ in ‘paradise’.
Ahmadinejad’s political power base IS the Basiji, and he’s proud of it.
Funny that nobody in the media seems willing to remind the public both in and outside of Iran of this fact.
Basijies locked themselves inside .
at 0:05 you can see the whole building exploded
at least 5 from Basijies were killed
you can see fire in different parts of city

As I spent a couple of hours driving around in heavy traffic I could see thousands of men, some uniformed members of the military riot squads, some units of revolutionary guard, and everywhere basijis - militiamen who look like street toughs.
The security men were deployed on every street corner, in long lines down the sides of the roads, and in all the main squares.
The basijis wore riot helmets and carried big clubs. It was designed to intimidate, and while I was there, it was working."

Considering the abuse these people are suffering at the hands of the Basij, I don’t blame them at all.
Have you seen Persepolis? That very act was shown in the movie. Damn good movie too!
No, I have not seen that but I’ll make a point of it, thanx!
Heh...if only. No, they will come at you with Census information requests and requests for medical information (for the Medical database ya know). Once they get all the information they need - you will be helpless against government controls... The Collective rules...
We have seen the beginning with the New York arrests outside the synagogue, and the shooting of soldiers in Little Rock.
When they come for your guns, make sure you behave as a model American citizen and give them both barrels. Its your duty.
A couple of caveats for you a.)it’s in French b.)it is animated-as long as you know what to expect you should enjoy it.
“I want to feel the wind in my hair.”
I find the “allegedly” adverb to be a little too objective from the Obama-loving AP. If there was any accusation against the US, they’d be all over it saying we had to prove it was false no matter how bizarre. When we see these goons beating peaceful demonstrating women in the streets, is it too far fetched to think they might be going after the ring leaders with axes where cameras won’t record it?
In the old days these were called Stormtroopers, Gestapo, and the Komsomol Youth.
But don’t worry. We’re gonna get them as the Obama Youth Corp. Coming to a neighborhood near you, soon!

I hope the CIA BLACKMALES that coward obambi and tell him they are going to help the iranians anyway.
FUBO!!!

sOON THE MOST DEAD MEN ON THE STREETS OF IRAN!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember the Bra burning of the 60s?
The Iranian women are gonna burn so many millions of yards of Burkas that it will really be global warming.
While there never has been a disruption of the public peace during the five years the ministry has been attending, this year Dearborn police warned Saieg his Christian group would not be allowed to walk the public sidewalks to hand out information
After negotiations in Dearborn failed to restore the Christians’ rights, the lawsuit was filed.
So we have in Dearborn supporters of mullahs and in Tehran we have supporters of Freedom. ....what a funny world.
Sounds like there is meddling going on in..... Dearborn.
?? Who is Neda?
Good muslims...Bad muslims...Ya can’t tell the players without a score card. (pass the popcorn)
I’d rather remember those murdered by the ROP on Sept. 11, 2001.
I have looked at that video over and over and as much as
I hate to suspect it, I believe it may be staged.
Watch the hand of the man with the blue shirt very carefully. It appears he has a syringe or tube which he places along her face just as the blood comes forth.
Everybody wants to be Buckhead
The liberal was fired, has no pension and is living off decimated retirement accounts. However, his wife works for the state and is expecting a nice pension. We'll see how that works out, but it won't change his mind, as it hasn't changed the mind of those we know with state educational pensions that have been cut twice this year.
What is sadly ironic, is the Iranians are rebelling against a conservative, right-wing, war-mongering regime brought to power by a revolt initially supported by another US President who didn't believe in any US-led war. The mullahs are actually everything the progressives said Bush and the Republicans were. The Iranians are using the exact tactics the Left supports. But, the donks have power, so now, up is down and black is white, they now publicly support everything they profess to hate.
It really doesn’t matter if it’s fake. The propaganda value is tremendous.
