If you are optimistic, this depends upon how much recruiting standards are watered down and how much the promotion policy is corrupted. World history on the basic subject is extremely depressing, and I don’t think we nor any other people need to invoke even the above threats in order to worry. SOP for tyrants is to foist deprivation upon elements suspected of harboring “dangerous” sentiments (with executions for the most blatant displays), and abundant reward upon staunch loyalists. Attrition is generally answered by bolstering the ranks with erstwhile disaffected civilians (unemployed youth especially) in return for base rewards - sometimes directly astride regulars, but usually outside the prevailing command structure.
One problem is that insubordination generally occurs in a disorganized fashion (by design of the organizational structure and communication protocols - this is all good when the government is good, but bad when the government is bad). This may not be the case in the present and future due to the diffuse nature of communication channels, but central governments have retained enough control over even these that, if non-compliant communication occurs, there exists enough government access to all available channels (and ultimately control over key infrastructure, including power) that seeds of doubt can be sewn regarding the veracity or context of all inconvenient communications.
For example, I fully expect tyrants to answer (via both official government news agencies as well as through agents posing as part of the popular uprising) public reports of insubordination with collections of easily-falsified similar claims and chalk those up to psy-ops of foreign governments, hoping the masses ascribe the same motif to genuine revolts.
The difference in this case would be that millions of Americans will be armed....and if I remember correctly, the UN troops mostly run away if they receive return fire....

In the last political survey of military officers, 90% of officers identified themselves as Republicans or conservatives. The numbers scared the socks off the leftists in Washington.
You tell me how many troops will shoot Americans, and what the consequences will be for those who order it.
