PASO ROBLES, Calif. A moderate earthquake has jolted part of central California’s San Luis Obispo County.
...
The U.S. Geological Survey said preliminary reports estimated the quake at magnitude 4.6.
The USGS said the quake was centered about 15 miles west of the city of Paso Robles.
The Pacific Rim is ronery..
I felt a very minor earthquake in Oakland County, Michigan - I think in 1998. Its epicenter was in the Susquahanna River, in Northern OH.
Glad you checked in.
I thought you might be a distance from Anch.
I have been in a number of 4.+ and some 5s
here in San Diego. 5.7 is not fun to go through.
Thanks. I’ll give him a call later and let you know his responses.
The Stennis, Cool. That would be fun.. The Stennis is state of the art.. I bet the food is good.
She needs room for the pirate patch, matey...
I was stationed at March AFB in Riverside, CA when that big one hit that collapsed the bridges. 93 or 94?
I was standing in my bed holding on to the large R/C plane that was hanging over my head. Rocking and Rolling. WooHoo!
Just another near Adak. 5.5
Looking forward to it. I live in earthquake country, m’self, and am always interested in people’s responses.
Actually I did feel a slight shake here in Jackson county from one of the Ohio tremors back in the 80s.
No, wait, had to be 91 or 92...I was in Germany in 93
I just called and he said they felt nearly nothing. He’s in a good spot there, he says, and all he saw was a plant swinging slightly. Whew. He has four children so I do worry about such things. M
We were in the Mat-Su when that one hit. We could hear it coming, I looked at my husband and he looked at me and then the house started moving. The cars were jumping in the driveway, the trees swaying back and forth. The hanging lights in the kitchen were almost hitting the ceiling on each back sway. I brought the boys in the living room and let them jump on the couch (BIG treat) so they wouldn’t get scared. Still surprised there was so little damage. After it was over I promptly went in and threw up. I am so glad we don’t live in earthquake country any more. Of course now the tornado warnings scare the pee out of me.
Hey, I live about half a mile from the Wasatch Fault. It’s about 200 years overdue for an 8 pointer. Just keep whistling. It makes it easier. ;-)
"The main earthquake was felt over a large area of the Eastern United States, covering all or parts of eight States (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia) and Ontario, Canada. It also was reported by people on the top floors of multistory buildings in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and Wisconsin, as well as Washington, D.C. "
Quote from http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/states/events/1986_01_31.php Midwest quakes are felt over a wide area. It was felt in Michigan.
Thanks.
