He worked tirelessly through good days and bad to make sure my brother and I had every opportunity he didn't -- to go to college and pursue our dreams. His example continues to guide me every day.
Barack didn't have my good fortune -- his father left when he was just two years old. But he has always been determined to give our daughters what he never had, and he values being a good father more than any other accomplishment in his life.
On Friday, Barack brought some men (and a bunch of kids!) to the White House to talk about fatherhood. Check out a video of the event:
We all know the remarkable impact fathers can have in our children's lives. So today, on this 100th anniversary of Father's Day, take a moment to celebrate responsible fatherhood and the men who've had the courage to step up, be there for our families, and provide our children with the guidance, love and support they need to fulfill their dreams.

Even though it’s only words, at least they’re publicly celebrating father’s day and I find little reason to criticize them over this.

...perhaps if it had been more about fathers, other than their own family and the special ones they favor, I would have seen it differently.... though it is difficult for me to see anything they do as being unmotivated by “look at me...more, more, more....”

They’re publically appropriating Father’s Day, more like.
Did anyone read that grotesque, slobbering piece from some journalista in SF about how Obama was “Father to the Nation”?
I find it somewhat strange that he is given such an endorsement as being a good father when in all other cases everything MUST be about HIM, first last and always. to be shared by NOBODY EVER.
How did I get on this mailing list? I don’t remember writing to the white house. But I unsubscribed. No more propaganda for me.

I know how I got on it. I wrote a critical letter to obama about his abuse of power... Didn’t get anything back, but did find myself on the mailing list! How’s that for arrogance~

I have never heard anything about them.... they were like nonexistent in my world until 2008. I wish it had remained like that. 2000 would be about the time the children were being born... so that might have entered into the equasion... they are dangerous because of the total lack of ethics and honesty... which seems to be also found in congress.... how I would love to clean house!
Sometimes I just “watch” them....I don’t think it’s a good marriage. They seem very “separate”. I think he treats her like garbage....but she’s useful for political reasons.
Yeah.... I just found it a little easier to begin my diet.

I just cringe at all the non-thinkers who got this e-mail and bought it, and felt “special”! What master magicians they are...
to erkyl: it can truthfully be stated by me, that when I want propaganda, I’ll watch the news.... It is like being in Russia and not being able to get the truth. I’ve started reading the Canada press on line... they at least know what he is up to and spell it out!
The only upside to the Obama Fathers Day propaganda op, was that “Nightline” did a piece on White House guest, Tony Hawk. What an incredible guy. I thought he was just a pro skateboarder, but he’s amazing!

This may come as a huge shock to you, but I don't give a rat's about your father or Barry's.
Your need for attention for is staggering.
I hope you and your husband have a great time with your family but PLEASE don't presume to think we want our families to be anything like yours.
