German chancellor Angela Merkel has urged the ruling regime in Tehran to allow a full recount of the disputed presidential elections of June 12. “Germany sides with those Iranians who want to exercise their right to freedom of expression and assembly”, Merkel declared on Sunday; making it one of the strongest messages sent by any Western leader to Iran so far. Chancellor Merkel also called on Tehran to allow peaceful demonstrations, to refrain from using force against protestors, and to release imprisoned opposition figures. “Human and civil rights have to be fully respected,” she stated. Merkel further demanded that restrictions placed on foreign media covering the widespread protests across Tehran and the rest of the country be lifted.

How long before a German Chancellor has to come to the US and say in halting English: “I am an American” in support of the American people’s attempt to regain their freedom?
Mr. Obama, and the rest of the liberal leadership would do well to listen to those who grew up under totalitarianism, but I am not holding my breath.
Why not call for an honest recount. The U. S. does it all the time in cases of close elctions.

Merkel, Sarkozy and I don’t know where the Brits are, but, they have received singling out by the Iranian regime, so, they must be somewhat stalwart. But, they are feckless, while, we with and army on two sides have a Pres__ent that believes communism is the next great religion and 0bama is its prophet, does nothing and contemplates doing less.
I was of the opinion that this was an in house cat fight, but, it has taken a life of its own irrelevant to the two people at the top. This has become a struggle to take control of their own lives. I think I would like some caviar with my tea.

I still have faith that the American spirit stills lives in enough of this to return our country to the freedom and honor of a republic. It will not be easy though. The real trick is to find the statesmen we need.
