Duncan Hunter, a retired Republican who once chaired the Armed Services Committee, has decided that Iraq War veterans are the perfect candidates to revive the Republican Party in 2010.
Hunter -- a Vietnam War vet who briefly sought the 2008 Republican presidential nomination -- is already backing two such candidates as they launch challenges to two of the more junior members of the House Democratic majority: Jesse Kelly, who wants to take on two-term incumbent Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona's 8th District, and Vaughn Ward, whose target in Idaho's 1st District is freshman Democrat Walt Minnick.
Hunter will be attending a series of brunches, receptions and a golf outing in Tucson this weekend with Kelly, who said Hunter is a big attraction in conservative circles in his district in Arizona's southeastern corner. "He did very well in early presidential polls down here," Kelly noted, referring to Hunter's 2008 bid.

Well, the “conservative” press also wrote him off completely. They did not care that he won the Texas straw poll, the Az straw poll, tied in the SC straw poll, all early on. They did not dare breathe his name, and instead had kneepads aplenty for the RINO candidates.
Good to see he’s moving about. I like him better than just about anyone else you could name.
Hunters Rangers will be back in the saddle for Hunter on any and every move he makes :)

Duncan Hunter has more wisdom and knowledge than the rest of the GOP combined.
Guys, I was very interested in seeing Duncan Hunter do well, but aside from being ignored by the MSM and the party, he really hurt himself in debates by being a johnny one note on foreign trade. I know he has more depth than that, but it seemed like every answer kept going back to that issue. It was very frustrating that he wasn’t able to make a better showing.
As long as the Republicans keep their idiot, me to, Democrat stance on Iran and all the other games they play they will never see another vote or dollar from this vet..
I really like Sarah. I’d be happy if Hunter was her Secretary of State, or Defense, or CIA chief, or you name it; he would give her administration some real grit.
But Hunter would be the better president. She’d be a great cabinet secretary in her own right and a very good VP, but Hunter has the knowledge and experience and seasoning and the all around grit for the job. There isn’t a better man out there for the job. If she’s running I’ll happily support her, but if he’s running I’ll be even happier.
I still think things would turn out very different if we had debates between the candidates of both parties instead of the softball debates within the parties during the primaries. Obviously you can’t put all the candidates on stage at the same time but they could be matched up for a series of debates.
It would sure beat getting stuck with a candidate incapable of debating when its too late to choose another.
Hunter has no fear of the media or the opposition. While the others whined about democrat ringers asking questions in the CNN debate, Hunter was sending out letters asking democrats to send more. He also didn’t mince any words in calling Harry Reid a treasonous coward.
He usually only had the chance to answer one or two questions the whole evening.
I am for the Vets, a lot of them know about shock and awe!
It is needed now at home. Obozo knows it too, why do you think he deployed more to Afghanistan? He is afraid of them.
If the right man gets behind this, it will be a clean wipeout at the RNC. And they will clean the streets with the Dem traitor and his minions.

I always think it's a disgrace how the media, and the parties as well, treat the so-called minor candidates with such unfairness. Someone like Hunter or even Kucinich, nutty as he is, has no chance because people say he has no chance and it's just not right at all. Meanwhile, the media will get behind someone like Obama or Huckabee and suddenly we have ourselves this out of nowhere phenomenon.
