26-Yr-Old Son of Kim Jong-Il Now Controls Secret Police; Fate of 2 US Liberal Journalists (Breaking)
Donga Ilbo South Korean newspaper (Link in Japanese) ^ | 24 June 2009 | Jiji Tsushin Press (Translation)

Posted on 06/24/2009 12:20:55 AM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

This link is just to the Japanese report, but it is emerging that since March a) Kim Jong Un, the 26-year-old heir apparant/son of Kim Jong il, has essentially been given administrative control of the North Korean Secret Police (국가안전보위부); b) that this also soon puts him in de-facto control of the 10,000 man strong border forces which will be put under control of the DPRK Secret Police next month. Further, Dong-A Ilbo daily newspaper in South Korea (from which the JIJI Japanese report (link) is based) says for all intents and purposes, c) the fates and current handling of the 2 captured liberal American journalists (Lee and Ling from Al Gore's outfit in San Francisco) are directly in the hands of heir apparant Kim Jong Un.

Bad. Really bad. Bad to begin with.

One can only hope he is not "having his way with them".

"Like father (AND grandfather) like son", you have to say, though. Lots of Japanese and South Koreans also in DPRK concentration camps FOR YEARS ON END ALREADY would likely agree.

Horror on earth is right. I know it's irrational but I can't but blame Algore for this. He is so lustful for money and relevance that it goes back to him and his ambitions of TV success—and as is always in his case, the only way he ever gets ahead is at others’ expense—and in going for shock and fear.

Those new to our world would be surprised by how many times reality can hit a liberal upside the head with a sledge hammer resulting in no change in their actions or beliefs. Not that they’re that committed to their beliefs, just really gullible.

If Vice President Gore is a true man, a true humanitarian, a true gentleman of COURAGE and METTLE and LOVE, becoming of his NOBEL PRIZE, he will pull a Father Maximillian Kolbe and will offer to fly to Pyongyang to exchange himself for his two employees, telling the North that he is on in age, and the younger women have young families and much more of life to look forward to, and that he will be patient as both governments work out something. But that would be an "inconvenient reality", wouldn't it?, to actually walk right into the DPRK lion's den like that to free two pitifully, helpless, scared-to-death FEMALES, as a true MAN.

I would not expect it of Al Gore. He is no different than the American cameramen who left those two up there high and dry. Chivalry and sacrifice are long dead, at least within the decrepit bowels of male American Liberalism.

North Korean "Chuche" Ideology (aka Kim Dynasty) is blood-based

Bad move! Blood born disease is easily stamped out. Just ask Uday and Qusay Hussein. The USA also has a history of stamping out emperor worship in Asia.
The Kim family just guaranteed the end of their line.

God doesn't like being usurped by his uppity creatures.

it is dishonorable for this scum to have kidnapped
a couple of American women and be getting away with it.
It reminds me of the seizure of the USS Pueblo , wherein again
we did nothing but sit on our hands .
We should have blown Pyongyang off the map for that one too .
We have NEVER made them fear us . It’s time they find out who their master is .
Again , is is a shame that we do do not make them seriously pay for every such infraction against us . Regardless of whether the women are of whatever political leanings .
They are Americans . Go get them .

Yes, but to be precise, Kim Jong il is not yet out of power (although ill), he has merely ceded this administrative role of being in charge of the secret police to his third son—according to the two reports (S. Korea/Japan). The old buzzard has not croaked yet and of course sonny boy, nor Jang Su Taek who runs him, would plug him or spice up his steaks with secret sauce at this time.

I am still somewhat of the opinion they themselves, despite warnings in an effort to get a good “scoop” for Fat Al Gore’s network, went into North Korean territory at that river—knowing or maybe not knowing the horrific risk. At any rate, they certainly have the “scoop” of their lives now. This is real investigative journalism. And here is the catch. If they are still in a luxury Pyongyang Hotel as negotiating bait being held on to, OK (for the time being), but if they actually now went into the camps, they are good as dead and will not be coming home alive, because those camps (internally) are the heighth of internal security; they will see the conditions there, and as journalists they would come out and write about it. North Korea CAN NOT HAVE THAT. My guess? If they are suffering the latter, that’s it. It is over. In a few months or years there will be a short message that they have died in an accident with no bodies recovered. North Korea did this over and over and over, and Sonny Boy taking over would do just the same. Unless we or someone somehow pulverizes the shit out of the DPRK and has regime change, where those two are miraculously spirited out of there.

great report , thanks !
Please recall how the Pueblo was also seized under very marginal , yet possible , definitions of sea boundaries .
Yet they got away with it . That set the tone for the future and that tone has never changed . It needs to change . It is time for this regime to get slapped thru the floor .
They and a few others. If only we had the leadership at the top !
I do not think it is entirely impossible that those women can be found and freed .Nothing is impossible for our best operators . We have no idea what assets can be employed.

Some of you older Freepers may remember the times when we used to think that being an American meant that the world had to treat you fairly.

Remember the old phrase, “You can’t do that to me, I’m an American.”? We actually thought it meant something. Different times.

I like how so many things are called “Dong” in North Korea. Its especially ironic that their two missiles systems are called “No Dong”, and “Type O’Dong”. :)

I suspect all this rage stems from some certain basic inadequacies.....

not any more.
Because once we believed that we were defined as those opposing totalitarian Communism atheism.

That is no longer true.

We are the world's leading moral relativists and economic statists-—at least we are being led by them.

NO moral or economic high ground any more -— not an ounce or inch left.

Nope. I think that’s why constitutional monarchs have always been successful rather than absolute ones.

No one other than God Himself has the right to express his wishes and he does it through the saints.

All monarchs that rule (absolutism) have always had sticky ends.

It was late in 1983 when Ninoy Aquino was executed by F. Marcos military thugs on the tarmac of Manila Intl Airport.. Ninoy on a high profile return to the Philippines after years of exile in Boston Mass. Then and there all Expats in the PI realized their royal made in USA hides were expendable. It was a year of living very dangerously for me.

As journalists (particularly investigative--and one whom in the eyes of the North Koreans terribly slandered the Great Leader Kim Jong il through a National Geographic documentary recently), with an unmistakeable mission to tell the outside world about nasty things that are hidden by men, if they have spent even one hour in one of those DPRK labor-reform camps and witnessed things with their own eyes, they are as dead as meat. They CAN NOT be released to tell the story. They will be either be drugged and brainwashed into Manchurian Candidates, or will somehow meet mysterious, unconfirmed deaths. I think this is what the families of these two women must now consider. I urge them to contact the families of Japanese who have had their relatives there for 15 or 20 years, to give them perspective. "Just because they are Americans" does not mean they move to the front of the line under that regime and get out in a couple of weeks with a deal cut by Bill Richardson. This is alltogether a different thing up there.

Q: Why is Obama going to let the North Korean missile hit Hawaii? A: Because then he can say that THEY destroyed his Birth Certificate! LOL.

Upon posting, comments were made that this was a racist effing joke, that the poster was a racist mother-effer, and that he should get the eff off Yahoo.

I saw no racial component to the joke at all, and it was WAY funnier than David Letterman’s about Sarah Palin’s daughter. What do YOU all think?

That's why I don't think they have. They are probably being held in a police office building somewhere until their trade value to the US government can be established.

What is crappy is that when the North Koreans moved the USS Pueblo from the port of Wonsan on the East Coast, to the Taeddong River in Pyongyang, this was in 2004 I think (either way, under the Bush Administration), we did NOTHING, and it went through international waters. It is OURS. We could have seized it or at least bombed it. This country is a p*ssy, sometimes, under both Democrat AND Republican Administrations. I guess knee deep in the crap in Iraq at the time was more important.
