An Iowa congressman says an Army general was not out of line when he addressed Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) as "ma'am" during a recent Senate hearing.
Brigadier General Michael Walsh, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was testifying last week before Boxer's Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works about the progress of the Louisiana restoration process in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Boxer: "Well, why has it been delayed?
Walsh: "Ma'am, at the L-A-C-P-R is..."
Boxer: "You know, do me a favor. Could say 'Senator' instead of 'ma'am?'"
Walsh: "Yes."
Boxer: "It's just a thing; I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it. Yes, thank you."
Walsh: "Yes, Senator."
Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) knows Walsh personally and says addressing Boxer as "ma'am" was completely appropriate.
Steve King"He'd been out there toiling in 104-degree heat, serving America. And responding to people who address you with a respectful 'yes, sir' or 'yes, ma'am' is exactly what you're taught to do in military protocol," he notes. "When confronted with Senator Boxer admonishing him for addressing her as 'yes, ma'am' and directing him to address her as 'Senator,' the proper response would have been 'yes, ma'am!'"
Ironically, Fox News reported that the same day at a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, two Navy officials repeatedly addressed Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) with the title "sir." Wicker had no objections.

How about Hag? Moron? POS? Why the possibilities are endless! Can you imagine this guy who has spent his life protecting this worthless POS’s fat, sagging ass getting treated like this? Someone in California please do us a favor!
Bravo to Rep. King for publicly saying this. Maybe the other Republicans will get a clue that it’s long past time to defend right and go after the RATS no matter how big or small the issue.
King is the man.
Hmmm...if I ever cross paths with her I will address her by a term that starts with the same letter as her name.
She must not get out much.
Go to any restaurant or store, at her age, and she will be called “Ma’am.”
Funny, God thought He was the one who gave you that authority. Guess you know better, huh, Senator?
For some. For others, everyone is “Sir or Ma'am” if they are respected, and addressed by their rank if unknown, or not respected.
Of course, I'm an NCO, not a commissioned officer, and certainly not a general officer! Boxer has her foot in her mouth so far she's got a mustache. Last I checked, “senator” is a job description, and we don't do titles here in America. IIRC, the law making an officer automatically “an officer and a gentleman” was repealed in the ‘70’s as we got more and more female officers.
NCO's have been known to say "Don't call me 'sir', I work for a living" when so addressed, however. ;)

**** boxer.

Well, if you think about it, she addressed him as “You know”. You (him)... Why not properly address him as, well... General!
In her effort to demand respect she was very disrespectful of him and his title. No one seems to be pointing this out.
And worse, RE-ELECTED!!!
A bit tooo generous about the IQ, weren’t you?
Perhaps the good General could offer a dirty sock to be surgically permanently attached to M’am’s mouth.
What a disasterously treasonous creature to have in the Senate.
I long for God to cleanse this earth of the evil doers more and more.
Do the California ones lock themselves in their rooms?

Oh, 4’11”. I think I see the problem here. She is a plain old garden variety b***h. Kick her short a** our of office.
“Why are all the Democrat women ugly as sin and the Republican women beautiful by comparison?”
Perhaps because they feel they’ve been shortchanged in the looks department, they spend the rest of their lives flocking together and lashing out at the world. What else could explain it?
Article 1 Section 9
No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.
An even dumber, more ignorant electorate.
Barbara Boxer’s proper title is Pompous Ass.
Senator Boxer, ma’am, Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)
