5 years? You mean 5 months since his wife was told and the e-mails were sent to The State newspaper.

I'm talking about the total span of the relationship. Sexual infidelity followed long after he'd developed an intimate friendship beyond what was appropriate.

“And besides, as GOP head in Carolina, I want a governor who’s a little less conservative and a little more receptive to our beloved president and his handouts.”

“Take a letter Maria”

Address it to my wife, say I won’t be coming home...

ha ha, good one, thanks for the laugh

...there's a strong case to be made that a sitting chief executive that lies to his own staff people and goes incognito off to Argentina to be with his lover, while making no provisions for the transfer of authority and leaving no way for his staff to contact him is the height of irresponsibility. He needs to go...what a weirdo.

This may seem naive but I don’t see Gov. Sanford having to resign. He did own up to and apologize for his indiscretion live on national TeeVee. Wheather that will placate them will be up to the voters of South Carolina. The next few weeks will be a test of wheather they believe he has undermined the State’s business/status or not. JMHO.

Where were these yahoos when Lindsey was being unfaithful to conservative principles?

Not only that, but a Republican politician is the proverbial target in a shooting gallery, unless masquerading as a Rino sellout, which affords protection.

When the media arcade rifle clanks the target, we have to change it out. That politician is down for the count. The SRM is already repeating and stressing Sanford’s name like they just caught a big fish down at the pond. I can’t sign on and not see Sanford’s face, or read a deliberate water carrying message from somebody the Asspress has lined up to castigate him. That’s what the media does. Democrat scandals never see the light of day or are hushed up quickly on Fridays.

Politics is a dirty game. There’s only one side that really matters and runs things. It’s easy to be one of them. Just be totally corrupt, an advocate for sin and shame, a liar and a divider, with the personal morals of the original snake, dedicated to direct or indirect promotion of wickedness. Our side can’t be like that.

If you are "naive", then I am too.

I agree that he should continue, as long as he can keep his head on straight with all that's going on. And that won't be easy.

Yeah, I don’t think most of us are necessarily advocating he resign. We are just discussing that he’s finished outside of SC.

The SC GOP has wanted Sanford gone for a long time now, so that they can get back to business as usual. Unfortunately, Sanford had to go and give them an excuse.

Our side can’t be like that.

Amen. Otherwise, what's the point??? Are we in this "just" to be in power? Are we some economic coalition that simply wants to call the shots, so that this time it's our palms that get greased?

I hope that we're in it for doing what is right for the nation, for freedom, and for our posterity.

Bringing it out now is, IMO all about Sanford's refusal to take the stimulus money.

So not keeping it in his pants has absolutely nothing to do with it?

Amen!

Also, Gresham Barrett screwed ALL OF US with the TARP vote, but there are still so called "conservatives" on here standing up for him.

Sanford screwed up, for sure. But I, for one, can cast no stones. I have fallen short of perfection many, many times... and that is just so far today. So at least from this sinner, prayers up for the Gov. and his family. (and also for the "other woman" who has been taking such a beating on here for the last day and a half.)

I hope the Gov. decides not to resign. Only us South Carolinians know what a disaster the Lt Gov is....

It’s up to the people of South Carolina if they wish him to finish the term or not. In some ways it’s simpler to let him carry it out. They can start fresh with elections next year. Provided he has some sort of ankle bracelet on him to prevent these escapades out of the country.

But I wouldn’t blame them if they wanted him to resign. His judgement is compromised. That affair was the first strike. Abandoning his post and having his staff lie while he conducted the affair? Does that sound like sound judgement on the part of a person entrusted with affairs of S.C. government? He’s not thinking rationally at all.

Judging by those photos-—if it smells like one and looks like one it must be one - a set up

No excuses for that idiot governor - but he was sure set up.

If someone does a great job but cheats on his wife/husband you don’t fire him.

The guy was a great governor. Let him finish his term. Nothing’s impeachable
