Governor Palin Visits Alaska National Guard in Kosovo
Office of the Governor of Alaska ^ | June 25, 2009

Posted on 06/25/2009 5:06:41 PM PDT by Al B.

June 25, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin is in Kosovo visiting approximately 140 Alaska Army National Guard aviators who are deployed for 12 months on a peacekeeping mission.

The 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment is providing aviation support with UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to U.S. forces and coalition forces. This is an air assault mission in which the unit will be tasked with various duties including passenger and cargo airlift, external sling load deliveries, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. “I am happy to pass on the message of sincere thanks from all Alaskans,” Governor Palin said. “We are so proud of their service.”

A part of Governor Palin’s duties while she is in country is to inspect the troops and ascertain how the experience in Kosovo will better prepare these service members for missions within Alaska and future deployments overseas.

“As commander-in-chief, Governor Palin is the one we look to for leadership and inspiration while serving and defending the sovereign boundaries of Alaska,” said Lt. Gen. (AK) Craig E. Campbell, Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard. “We thank the commanding general of the Multi-National Task Force East for the invitation to visit and for his hospitality while in country.”

The 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation is the most deployed unit in the Alaska National Guard, having previously deployed elements to Kosovo in 2004, as well as fulfilling missions in Iraq, Guatemala, Haiti and Honduras.

How is that for an endorsement of Gov Sarah Palin. I would like someone like that General as Sec Def that would encourage our solders not like Gates who bows to Obama.

Or this from Rear Admiral Mark Vance, when she visited the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) on Monday:
"It's not every day a governor comes onboard," Vance said. "We tell our Sailors thank you every day, but when it comes from someone like Governor Palin, it makes it all the more special."

He said the visit comes at a time when the Stennis has been at sea for five months in various exercises before coming up north to Alaska in support of Northern Edge.

"This is a huge deal for them," Vance said. "This visit is icing on the cake after a five month cruise at sea."

Adm. Vance took a COD over to Elmendorf from the Stennis to personally escort her out to the ship.

Flag officers are anxious to meet this lady, it seems. :)

It’s a great endorsement. And, along with her carrier trap, and I presume cat, at the start of this trip, a great experience for her.

Gov. Palin was in Kuwait a few years ago, always in involvment with the Alaska Nat. Guard.
Just Flew out to the Carrier Stennis Mon., invited by
the Navy.

To bad more in Government would do the same in respect
to the troops.

And I'm sure the troops have taken notice and have respect for her as well. And especially considering it's not just a photo op for her. She really does admire and respect them and they know it!

SCP—this post by mick yesterday gave me a lot of hope:

“Back in the 1930’s when Britain was ruled by appeasers the British military took it upon itself to secretly brief one Winston Churchill to keep him up to date on the situation and send a signal to those in the known that this was a man the Military believed the country should support if things got rough.
This visit is no accident. The Navy just doesn’t invite ANY Governor for a ride. I honestly believe the US Military is scared to death of Obama and has started to make sure the right people understand that Sarah Palin has their support. Just read the Admirals gushing words about how lucky the crew is to have this visit.

There are no random, purposeless events at this level. “

Lots of guys had the Farah poster. I want a poster of Sarah watching the flight operations on the USS Stennis. Just outstanding.

President No. 45.

She acts more like a real CIC than the phony kenyan who plays president on tv. Plus she looks good in flight gear. What a deal. I’m an old crusty marine, but dammit, if the person fits the job, then they ought to do the job regardless of what color they are or what sex they are. I am just real damn tired of having a guy who claims to be president who doesn’t have the experience to be the stinking yard boy. I have fingers and toes crossed that Sarah Palin is our next President and she can straighten out the mess that the dimrat party has left us with. Ever notice that in the last 30-40 years, that has been the pattern. Dimorat presidents screw this country up and the repubs come in to fix the mess. Go Sarah.

FRiends.......After my post yesterday a friend called and asked me if I remembered the last time a sitting Governor visited our troops in a war zone at the expressed invite of the Pentagon........I didn't.

But he seems to think it was Ronald Reagan. And the place was Vietnam. And later it did come out that our military leaders were enraged that the democratic controlled congress refused to send promised support to S. Vietnam. And condemned those brave people to the communist slaughter house. It was then and there that Reagan became the go to candidate for American patriots. Because he was the only one who had the guts to call Vietnam an honorable war.

And today it is the same scum democrats who are stabbing our country in the back and selling us out to every tinpot dictator in the world. And we all know the only candidate out there who will reverse this and restore American greatness

Something is happening out there between our military and Sarah Palin. Don't get me wrong. I have no insider knowledge. Except the sense that this nation, and it's defenders, will not go quietly into the dark night of socialism and second rate status without a fight. A legal, constitutional fight.

Bismark once remarked that God seemed to look after little babies, drunks, and the United States of America. There can be no other rational explanation for the impact this woman has had on us and the nation. The rise of Palin cannot only be due to human action. Something more is going on.I truly believe she is a woman of destiny.

We live in historic times. May God Almighty protect her and give her the strength to endure her coming trials.

Man, do I agree with that. My brother and I were talking about this again tonight. I haven't always been the most religious guy around but I am absolutely convinced that God is running this operation.

Pray for our nation.

The respectful treatment of Sarah Palin by the military, especially high ranking career officers is not an accident.

Something to keep in mind is that those admirals and generals, many academy graduates, have a solid education in American and military history. Just as important, they all took a solemn oath to defend the constitution of the United States - with their lives if necessary.

Unlike a recent taker of such an oath, they did not have to cross their fingers behind their backs and clearly contradict everything they ever uttered before [or since] by doing so!

An opportunity to demonstrate respect for a political figure who actually shares their sentiments is probably a welcome change from the usual junketing congressmen they are required to deal with.

I imagine the contrast of Palin’s respect for the military with the conspicuous contempt Sen. Boxer so snidely displayed a few days ago may have made Palin’s visit more welcome.

The respectful treatment of Sarah Palin by the military, especially high ranking career officers is not an accident.

On Monday of this week, a 2-star admiral from the Stennis rode a COD over to Elmendorf to a 3-star general's office to personally escort her out to the carrier.

Now she's got a 3-star general escorting her to Europe.

You're right, no accident.

..."against all enemies foreign or "domestic".

And as Mick stated, it's a legal and constitutional statement, all within the bounds of protocol. But as subtle a statement, as it may be perceived by some, it's a statement none the less.

Gov. Sarah Palin truly does "Love" this country, and everything it stands for. Obama, not so much. And people (some not even American) are beginning to take notice.

I am with you 100% and agree with what you had to say. I read the statement of the General and thought how different from the current occupant of the WH. Hers would be a fun campaign to work.

I liked Sarah Palin from Day One but I am liking her even more now. This is great for her to be over there with the Alaska troops without all the fanfare that we usually see. She actually cares about the men and women serving and you can tell they respect and appreciate her.
