Sarah Palin At High Noon

By Lloyd Marcus

I just watched the classic movie "High Noon" (again). Gary Cooper played a brave sheriff who brought law and order to his town. As one woman said, "He made it safe for a decent woman to walk down the street". A recently released outlaw was coming back to town on the noon train to deliver vengeance against the sheriff who put him away. His gang of three arrived early to help their leader take out the sheriff.

Fully aware of why the bad men were in town, the sheriff could not arrest them because they had not broken any laws. Waiting is not illegal.

Desperate, the sheriff interrupted a church service to solicit help. After much debate, the ungrateful town folks declined. They even suggested the sheriff "get out of town" hoping the trouble would follow him. The sheriff contemplated their recommendation. He began saddling his horse, but something inside would not allow him to run away. Heroically, the sheriff faced the bad guys and won!

I thought of another strong, gutsy, bold, stand-on-principles hero, Sarah Palin, in her own modern day version of High Noon. Sheriff Palin rode into America Town on a white horse with conservative guns blazing and saved a dead McCain campaign. She brought hope to weary and battered conservative town folks and gave them a reason to vote.

Outlaw Obama and his posse, the hate filled liberal media/Democrat gang, came to town a gunnin' to politically eliminate Sheriff Palin. They ambushed her at Miss Katie Couric's CBS saloon. Though wounded numerous times, Sheriff Palin survived.

She bravely stood tall and rode high in the saddle while ungrateful, weak kneed Republican town folks ran for cover, hid in their homes and peeked nervously through the curtains.

Why are Obama and his gang so committed and desperate to destroy Palin? Could it be they recognize her destiny, like that of Moses, to set her people free? And why is she so despised by them? Obama's gang hate Palin for all the reasons we love her. Sheriff Palin is a good, decent and strong character driven conservative leader. Palin also believes in God. Such humility and virtues are as repulsive to liberals as showing Dracula the cross.

Something that sticks in the craw of many liberal women is that in their youth, they brought into the feminist rhetoric that women's liberation means no husband and family. Tragically, they find themselves aging and alone. Meanwhile, this conservative woman has it all: great career, fine family and a husband who loves and respects her. Adding insult in injury, Sheriff Palin looks mighty fine in her jeans.

Recently, the libs sent an old washed up gunslinger, the Letterman Kid, to challenge Sheriff Palin to a shoot out. Palin planted two bullets between the pathetic old dude's wrinkly eyes before he could un-holster his gun.

Despite Sheriff Palin's courage and willingness to fight, Obama and his posse rule America Town. They are in the process of taking over everything! Obama took over the livery stable and banned horses. While he and his posse continue riding horses, we town folks are forced to ride miniature ponies.

But in the spirit of what has made America Town great, an uprising is a brewin'. A huge conservative posse is building daily. Our first battle will be in 2010 to win back America Town's House and Senate. Then, in 2012, God willing and the creek don't rise, Sheriff Palin will lead us to victory in the battle of Little Big Washington DC. Years earlier, another great lawman cleaned up America Town, Sheriff Ronald Reagan.

After Sheriff Palin sweeps out the Obama gang, perhaps once again, we will be as what Sheriff Reagan affectionately called us, "a shining city on a hill".

Lloyd Marcus is the Singer/Songwriter of the "American Tea Party Anthem" and President, NAACPC (National Association for the Advancement of Conservative People of Color).

Yes, it is pretty important that Palin isn't the 2012 candidate to me.
It should be important for anyone who doesn't want to hand 0bama reelection.

However, you are mistaken about my involvement with the candidacy of John Kerry.
My satire images taking Kerry to task got quite a lot of exposure on both FR and elsewhere. You can still find many of them on the internet. Here are but a few:

My heavens, such thin skin...

How is it that you interpreted what I addressed to smoothsailing as a reference to you and your home page?

I've got news for ya. It had nothing to do with you.

You are now free to continue making a nuisance of yourself...

It sounds like a lot of excuses from a Palin apologist trying to blame others for Palin’s inability to attract votes.

Your rants have crossed over from being hysterical to completely absurd.

If she attracted voters in the numbers she needed to she would be VP right now.
Showing a picture of a crowd isn’t going to make your case.
Crowds of even 20,000 don’t necessarily translate into 60 million+ votes.
But I think Palin already proved that point.

I merely take issue with Sarah Palin’s ability to advance conservatism, electorally or intellectually.

I posted this on another thread, thought it might fit here as well.

This is a trait (fighting back) people are going to see more of as time goes on (recall Letterman). She was raised in Alaska and women up there are used to pitching in to get things done. It's almost like the lines between what a man does and what a woman does are blurred by necessity. It's a harsh place to live and 'girls' will carry their weight.

There may be a great lesson here that other women may want to emulate, and Sarah would make a great teacher (by example).

For example: Miss California did a fair job handling that little homo who attacked her over 'gay' marriage. Imagine how that would have gone with some coaching from Sarah? She would have helped put this creep back under the rock from which he came.

There may be other examples I can't think of right now, but Mrs. Palin would be a great role-model for young women everywhere. This is one lady who's not about to be steamrolled by anybody and I wish more women could be more like her. The benefits to society would be enormous.

I think I can speak for other guys who find confidence, ability, and rock-solid values attractive in a woman. Because, when you're not around you know they'll be able to 'hold down the fort'. From what I've seen, Sarah has what it takes to protect 'Fortress America' 'till we get back (to our senses as a society where we've been on a binge- imho).

the mind numbed lemmings are gravitating to her,

Go listen to her convention speech (youtube) and come back. Take out the McCain salutes, put them in perspective (garbage can).

Imagine this woman heading a ticket. And then, do the impossible- come up with a running mate.

Palin gave a great convention speech.
Almost as good as Rudy’s ‘Zero’ speech.
(I’ve been spelling it 0bama ever since.)

But herspeech was scripted. And as was well documented by the media, not written by her.
But yes, she gave a good delivery.

It is her unscripted moments, when she is on the spot and under pressure, that are of concern.

Unmitigated BS, sir.

Sarah's teleprompter went down and she delivered the rest of the speech like a pro. Reagan couldn't have done better. All your reasons against her are pure BS.

(Makes me wonder why you REALLY don't want her as our candidate.)

You seem to fear her more than the Dems do... same reasons?

Reportedly there was a brief interruption with her teleprompter when she switched to the hardcopy text she had in front of her. She ad-libbed one line about pitbulls and lipstick.

I don’t see how any of this is at odds with what I said.
She delivers a written speech well, just like 0bama.
That isn’t when she has trouble.

The PalinChoir were formerly the HuckaBots.
They shout down everyone who doesn’t line up behind their leader now, just as then.
The way they constantly invoke Mitt Romney as an epitaph is a dead giveaway.

Well then, I can't help you. Unscripted, Obama works too hard to hide his marxism. Unscripted, Sarah reveals her unpolished devotion to ideals like most any person unprepared for a media language dissection.

You want to know what you're witnessing? A woman who hasn't been attacked by a team of 'journalists' before. A woman who hasn't been ambushed by a team of 'journalists' before. What you are seeing is: you or I under the kleig lights. How would you fair? How would I?

Her distance from Harvard/Yale/Columbia is very attractive. And attract, she will. The crowds that'll show-up to hear her speak (un-eloquently) will astound.

A good heart beats a big brain. Obama is toast in 2012 and they know it.

I’m not saying you or I would be better in the situation than Palin.
But I’m also not saying you or I should be the President of the United States of America, Commander-in-Chief of the US military, and Leader of the Free World, either.

I think that’s a pretty big job to fill, and I’m just suggesting that perhaps Sarah Palin isn’t the one person best equipped to fill it.

Hey, I’m not saying 0bama is the better choice

Understand. You want to wait 'till the best choice comes around. What I'm telling you is: when it comes to a choice between this Chavezian socialist who's put the 'peddle-to-the-metal' to advance the 'people's' revolution against all that is America during his 'popularity' phase, where few will challenge him, we don't have the luxury of time.

Sarah, with all her warts and blisters stands tall in opposition to the Left's dirty attacks on conservatives. She has become a target and has shown she'll not be taken without a fight. (see Alaska/Grizzly/bloody mess)

I say, let 'em bring on the attacks. Let them show themselves for the coward liberals they are. And Sarah will, by conviction to the truth, smash them every time. They are so wrong, any conservative should have a field day.

I share reservations about her ability to handle the media. With the right people, this shouldn't be a problem. Hell, with the right people, there wouldn't BE a problem. But we know the leftist-bent of Pravda on the Potomac.

In short, I'll support the former Mayor of Wassila 'till she comes out in favor of higher taxes, bigger government, gun control, amnesty, and other non-conservative positions.

Why not? A community organizer was elected. I don't know about you, but I come from a line with roots to West Point, the Eigth Air Force, and Bomber Squadren Commander during WWII. That's just my dad.

Freedom is what's at stake and I refuse to sit back and wait 'till someone comes along to take-on these rabid marxists.

They're in high gear and we'd better get behind someone quick, hand them the banner, and prepare to fight like hell to protect what is America. I don't care if she comes with a skirt- I care that she'll do honor to that for which we stand. 2012 isn't that far away.

cp - The way they constantly invoke Mitt Romney as an epitaph is a dead giveaway.

The correct word for what you're trying to express is "epithet".

Now for you, counterpunch, a fitting "epitaph" might be "counterpunch - always wrong, but never in doubt".

As a friendly suggestion, it might be helpful for you to take a break from your frenzied online efforts and learn a little more vocabulary. And, while you're at it you'd also benefit greatly if you learned a little more history, logic, manners and humility...

He recognizes that in the Hegelian Dialectic, if one side offers a thesis, and the other side refuses to offer an antithesis, then there is no synthesis, instead the thesis takes all.

But that's not what I saw Newt doing. He bought into the AGW nonsense thesis, and offered a synthesis of AGW + slightly less spending, and maybe a slightly different set of profiteers.

The Scrooge approach to doing what the left wants to do hasn't been much of a winner, witness NCLB or how limiting spending growth in education got hammered as cutting education spending.

Mondale vs. Reagan

Mondale was a VP for 4 years, not just a VP candidate. He had a record to run on, his and Carters. And his campaign promised more of the same.

If Sarah Palin ran on the platforms or records of McLame or GWB, you might have a point. But she would also not be the candidate if she did. So, you don't have a point.
