While patriotism was evident Friday night, many citizens, gathered at Wes Point Park in downtown Willoughby, questioned the government's current role.
About 200 people filled the park and voiced their opinions, rallying for the nation, constitution and limited government.
"I'm here for the constitution," said Tracy Bunner of Willowick, while holding a sign that read 'If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.'

Tim Logan, left, of Wickliffe and Kathy Flanagan of Mentor listen to speakers during the Lake County American Heritage Club TEA Party Friday at Wes Point Park in Willoughby.
"I feel like our rights have been violated, and that government on both sides are not paying attention."
The Lake County Heritage Club and Mike Gutierrez, host of the radio program "Breakdown with Mike & Josh," organized the event, which included speakers and an information booth.
"I want people to be informed," Gutierrez said.
"It's one thing to be an activist, but there's no point to activism if you don't know what you're talking about."
Gutierrez, a Republican, said this was not a partisan event, but a way to inform everyone, regardless of their stance.
"This is about Democrats, Republicans, independents. It's about Americans coming together," Gutierrez said. "It has nothing to do with partisanship."
Leonard Gilbert, a Lake County American Club member, seemed to echo Gutierrez's words.
"They should recognize that Republicans have been in office, Democrats have been in office. And we still have the same out of control government," Gilbert said.
Kathy Hanson of Wickliffe said she's especially upset with the government regarding the recent $700 billion bailout.
"I'm here for my grandchildren," Hanson said. "I'm afraid of the direction this country's going, and I want to be a part of making it a better place for them."
Throughout the hour-long event, American flags and posters criticizing the government popped up throughout the crowd. Some signs read "Don't tread on me," "Remember: We the people," and "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free."
Bill and Sue Davies of Kirtland attended the rally because they are feeling the pinch of rising utility rates.
"It's going to kill us," said Bill Davies, adding that they are on a fixed income. "Why aren't there more people complaining?"
His wife filled in the blank and said, "Because they're too busy."
Bunner said she thinks her rights are slowly evaporating and is encouraging others to speak out.
"Wake up, pay attention to what's going on, get involved," Bunner said. "If you're not happy, take action."

I gotta call my son today! He might have been there.
Were there any arrests? :)
Great question. The protesters are considered right wing racist mini terrorist.
Kudos to you and the Heritage Club, and all my friends in NEOhio.

Yeah, and considering my son is more of a hellraiser than I am...one always has to ask the question. LOL
"WILLOUGHBY, NEXT STOP IS WILLOUGHBY"

"Gart Williams is an overstressed New York advertising executive who has grown exasperated with his career. His boss, angered by the loss of a major account, lectures him about this "push-push-push" business. Unable to sleep properly at home, he drifts off for a short nap on the train during his daily commute through the November snow.
He wakes to find the train stopped, and changed into a 1880s railcoach, deserted except for himself. The sun is bright outside, and as he looks out the window, he discovers that the train is in Willoughby, and that it's July of 1888! He learns that this is a "peaceful, restful place, where a man can slow down to a walk and live his life full measure." Being jerked back awake in the real world, he asks the conductor about Willoughby. There is no such town on any rail timetable, and never has been."

Watch it in glorious B&W...
BTW: Rod Serling frequently visited NE Ohio, it has been said that he enjoyed the name of Willoughby, and used it in his short story..
Thanks! I was going to post the same exact link.
Here is the main link for watching the series free online:

The episode is from season 1, page 1. Each of the three seasons pages has 2 pages of its own. The episode is titled “A Stop At Willoughby”.
Interesting. I didn't know that. It does sort of roll off the tongue. A lot of the names Serling used had a similarly nice sound to them. Thanks.
This first line in the report makes it sound as if you are against government you aren't patriotic!
great job to the Heritage club & all my friends in Lake Co..looks like a wonderful time.. The time frames was exactly same as my commitment with family for funeral home in Stark county..

SNIPPET: “WILLOUGHBY—The “tea party” protests on April 15, income tax deadline day, were not a single-day event.
People opposing the direction of the federal goverhment gathered at Point Park in downtown Willoughby Friday evening to demonstrate against government bailouts, higher taxes and what they see as diminishing individual rights in the spending programs of the Obama administration.”
