Breaking News

Venezuala Threatens Attack On Honduras

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez has threatened military action after the country’s ambassador to Honduras was kidnapped in a coup.

Honduras’ supreme court claims it told the army to oust President Manual Zelaya after his attempt to hold a referendum on his re-election.

During the coup the ambassadors of Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba were taken hostage.

President Chavez said Honduran soldiers left the Venezuelan ambassador on the side of a road after beating him.

Speaking on state television, President Chavez said he would do everything necessary to “abort” the coup.

He promised to “bring down” any government sworn in following the coup.

President Zelaya was arrested at his home by around a dozen soldiers and taken to a military base on the outskirts of the capital, Tegucigalpa.

And I’m sure the Honduran military is afraid of the mighty Venezuelan army. Come on, the Venezuelan army might intimidate unarmed civilians, but I sincerely doubt that they can handle a trained and armed military force.

“Zelaya was detained shortly before voting was to begin on a constitutional referendum the president had insisted on holding even though the Supreme Court ruled it illegal and everyone from the military to Congress and members of his own party opposed it.
Zelaya was taken into military custody at his house outside the capital, Tegucigalpa, and whisked away to an air force base on the outskirts of the city...”
