Congress to Pass[ed] Dramatic Global Warming Bill Members Could Not Possibly Have Read
John Shadegg Site ^ | June 26, 2009 | John Shadegg

Shadegg: This legislation will affect the livelihoods and lives of every single American, yet it will have been impossible for any Member of Congress to have read before the vote occurs.

Today, Congressman Shadegg (AZ-3) released the following statement regarding House consideration of the Majority’s so-called “Cap-and-Trade” bill:

“Late this afternoon, during floor debate, the Speaker Pro Tempore of the House acknowledged that the 300-page manager’s amendment adopted by the Rules Committee at approximately 4 a.m. this morning was still being “integrated” into the 900-page bill by the House Clerk. The Speaker Pro Tempore noted that this task was being done by a member of the House Clerk’s staff, sitting at the desk. In this process, changes made by the over 300-page amendment have to be physically marked and inserted into the 900-page bill. Since the Clerk’s office had not completed this task, no member of Congress – Democrat or Republican – could possibly have read it before the vote scheduled to occur this evening.

“The American people should be outraged. Not a single one of the 435 Members of Congress who will be called upon to vote on this bill tonight could conceivably have read it and know what is in it. The American people deserve better. This legislation will affect the livelihoods and lives of every single American, yet it will have been impossible for any Member of Congress to have read before the vote occurs.

“This is not thoughtful democracy, this is tyranny by an out-of-control Congress.”

Questions for those who voted for the Global Warming bill:

Here is the test that should apply to all Repesentatives :

1) Did you vote for Waxan-Markey?

2) Did you read Waxman-Markey (300 pages added the the 1200 pages at 4AM)?

3) Why did you vote for something you did not read?

4) Did you serve the people you represent by not reading Waxman-Markey?

Your chance for re - election in 2012 is dicey as Americans are not interested in party politics or those who play them. You think Nancy Pelosi scares you? Wait till you hear the voices of the people!

Sorry if this seems naive, but since we are through the looking glass here, I have to ask;

Can a bill that is not yet written be passed?

If not, can it be struck down?

If so, what is the procedure?

A multitude of Dem's and Barry lovers continue to spout that reading these Bill's is/are something that is/are viewed as typical modus operandi. Interesting, huh?

This is precisely the kind of thing Chavez does. Exactly.

This is third-world-hell-holism.

Did O really suppress an EPA internal memo that disputed the scientific basis for AGW? If so, why isn’t Fox all over this.

Bill is essentially an incomplete bill with pages yet to be written in the amendment sections..it is effectively a BLANK CHECK the Senate will be asked to pass.

I wish that were the case. But in about 2 and a half weeks people will forget and they'll get a fundraising letter in the mail saying "VOTE FOR ME WE'RE ALL THE STANDS IN THE WAY OF OBAMA SOCIALISM". Wins Primary.

Can our beloved Representatives be sued for something, or better yet be charged with some offense, when they pass a bill that they patently have not read?

“Bill is essentially an incomplete bill with pages yet to be written in the amendment sections..”

So, why no legal challenge to an incomplete bill?

In my experience this state's legislators frequently do not read bills they vote on, much less consider their content.

Perhaps, read these:

http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/usc_sec_18_00000242——000-.html

And then there is the ever pressing question: WHY hasn’t Murtha been charged, flat out, for treason? After-all, he DID condemn marines in the middle of a war-zone, following their ROE, before an investigation had finished.

How can the House pass a bill that is not complete at the time of the vote? This whole thing stinks and Obama and Pelosi are running the House like no different than any dictators.

The beauty of this kind of legislative approach is literacy is no longer a requirement to serve in congress.

Why shouldn't the illiterate be heavily represented?

Why should only those who read and write be passing all the laws?

The ignorant need a powerful voice and I'm glad to see they have many.

The next level of societal evolution is for nobody to be literate.

If nobody has read the laws being passed and nobody who enforces the law can read either, we reach a new level of tolerance where the law is fluid and adaptable and each person's view of the law is equal to that of his/her fellow citizen.

The law then becomes what we each feel or hope it is which brings us to new broader interpretations of right and wrong.

That's where we really ought to be as a society.

Can a bill that is not yet written be passed?

Why not? We don't expect our government to follow the highest law in the land, our Constitution, so why should it follow any law, man made or God given at all?
