Obama Picks Camp David Church -- Not a D.C. Congregation

For the past five months, White House aides and friends of the Obamas have been quietly visiting local churches and vetting the sermons of prospective first ministers in a search for a new - and uncontroversial - church home. Obama has even sampled a few himself, attending services at 19th Street Baptist on the weekend before his inauguration and celebrating Easter at St. John's Episcopal Church.

A number of factors drove the decision - financial, political, personal - but chief among them was the desire to worship without being on display.

I agree but I'll take it further: That it not focus on "black liberation theology" at all, NOR "social justice", that the Scriptures stand on their own taught by a faithful minister for the right reasons, to glorify God, our Lord Jesus Christ, not man.

Not that the family will attend more than is mandantory to look good but I saw three things - he and Michelle couldn’t be bothered to visit around themselves, he doesn’t have church-going friends who would invite them to visit their church, and he gets to use the full escourt for a longer drive through the streets.

Now, in an unexpected move, Obama has told White House aides that instead of joining a congregation in Washington, D.C., he will follow in George W. Bush's footsteps and make his primary place of worship Evergreen Chapel, the nondenominational church at Camp David.

This tells me the article is all about damage control. Follow George's footsteps my lily white ass. There s no need for Bush to be mentioned in this article except for one reason: the messiah needs to be seen as a man of deep faith and maybe he can do it on Bush's coat tails.

Someone told Obama he had better pick a church soon---the Muslim issue was starting to boil to the surface. Too close to Arabs.

2) Go to Camp David every weekend (with minimal or no cricism about being on a constant vacation) because, after all, he needs to be there to attend his church.

His examination of all denominations of churches in DC tells a lot about his faith, or lack of. As in Chicago, he is looking for one to further his political career, or at least not hurt it. The various doctrines that are being preached at the churches apparently mean nothing to him. He is looking for a PC church, not for the truth in God’s word.

When Hitler was giving his speeches, Germany was in a financial mess and he looked like a savior to the Germans who were strapped with reparations for WWI from the Treaty of Versailles with conditions they could never repay. Not an excuse for the Nazi system but just an insight for people looking for a savior to cure their financial situation and were willing to overlook the megamaniac personality. I once talked to a guy who knows the Catholic priest who says Mass at Camp David every Sunday for the employees there. He said the poor guy has to go through an extensive security check week in and week out.
