Obama Picks Camp David Church -- Not a D.C. Congregation
Time via Yahoo News ^ | 29 June 2009 | Amy Sullivan

For the past five months, White House aides and friends of the Obamas have been quietly visiting local churches and vetting the sermons of prospective first ministers in a search for a new - and uncontroversial - church home. Obama has even sampled a few himself, attending services at 19th Street Baptist on the weekend before his inauguration and celebrating Easter at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Besides, this means he get's more photo ops seeing as how he must be transported to Camp David every Sunday.

C'mon, you gotta think like a narcissist.

Not that the family will attend more than is mandantory to look good but I saw three things - he and Michelle couldn’t be bothered to visit around themselves, he doesn’t have church-going friends who would invite them to visit their church, and he gets to use the full escourt for a longer drive through the streets.

Now, in an unexpected move, Obama has told White House aides that instead of joining a congregation in Washington, D.C., he will follow in George W. Bush's footsteps and make his primary place of worship Evergreen Chapel, the nondenominational church at Camp David.

This tells me the article is all about damage control. Follow George's footsteps my lily white ass. There s no need for Bush to be mentioned in this article except for one reason: the messiah needs to be seen as a man of deep faith and maybe he can do it on Bush's coat tails.

Someone told Obama he had better pick a church soon---the Muslim issue was starting to boil to the surface. Too close to Arabs.

Quote: “Given Obama’s popularity within the African-American community, the President also worried that if he chose a local black congregation, church members would find themselves competing with sightseers for space in the pews..”..?

So in other words he did not want “whitey” crowding out his black brothers...? Sounds racist to me!

Well... So now he has an excuse to either:

1) Rarely go to church as he is rarely at Camp David at the right time for service. or shucks.

2) Go to Camp David every weekend (with minimal or no cricism about being on a constant vacation) because, after all, he needs to be there to attend his church.

Pretty nice.

Races in Thurmont(closest town to Camp David):

* White Non-Hispanic (97.7%)
* Two or more races (0.7%)
* American Indian (0.7%)
* Hispanic (0.7%)

Obama is finally trying to connect with his other half?

Ya’ think?
Only 60% of Americans and he’ll do it again. Sheeples believe him. Gosh, even my friends (conservatives) believe his intentions are good but that he just has “no clue”. “Really? Ya’ don’t think evil exists in this world”? I said. They said I was harsh for saying that.

BTW, Hitler fooled an entire country with his convincing speeches....I guess he was not evil either and believed what he was doing was in the best interest of his country...Oh boy.

He undoubtedly finally found a Clintonesque, photo-op Bible big enough to carry down the church steps after Sunday services.

Even better, what instructions did they receive? what were the criteria?

Since he’ll be “worshipping in private”,
no one will know whether he actually attends or not.

I think this is the point.

This may actually have been the best choice. It's possible he may just hear the gospel.

His examination of all denominations of churches in DC tells a lot about his faith, or lack of. As in Chicago, he is looking for one to further his political career, or at least not hurt it. The various doctrines that are being preached at the churches apparently mean nothing to him. He is looking for a PC church, not for the truth in God’s word.

"But White House aides say that security measures required by the Secret Service have become stricter since 9/11 and would cause significant delays for parishioners - and at significant cost to taxpayers - on Sunday mornings. "

What a bunch of crap. Security considerations, cost to taxpayers, and concerns for the public hasn't stopped him from flying to Chicago, New York or other places for dates with Blackie O.

What a bunch of liars! Security considerations, cost to the taxpayer, and concern for the public hasn't been a factor when he's gone off for his mid-day hamburger runs, or his flights to NY City or Chicago for dates with Blackie O.

I think facing East five times a day is part of some Episcopal services.

Most Episcopal churches have "west-facing" altars.

So he avoids being part of a church community where anyone can join? He picks a highly secured private structure instead of a “church”?
