Serious Questions About Sotomayor and Race
Fox News ^ | June 29, 2009 | John R. Lott Jr.

Posted on 06/29/2009 1:38:01 PM PDT by JohnRLott

With the Supreme Court narrowly striking down Judge Sonia Sotomayor's decision in the New Haven fire fighter's case, it emphasizes the importance of a single vote and there are renewed questions about her judgment on race. It brings back into focus not only her comments on the superiority of certain racial groups and women, but when combined with her recent comments on the Belizean Grove club indicate a very selective and self serving decisions on deciding when discrimination is occurring.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor can't take back her seven speeches over a decade where she talked about women's (or Latina women's) judgment being superior to men' (or white men's). But, about a week ago, almost a month after her Supreme Court nomination, Judge Sotomayor resigned as a member of the extremely exclusive all-woman club, the Belizean Grove. If she were a Republican man, such a withdrawal would have come to late. Worse, her letter announcing her withdrawal from the organization raises questions about her judgment.

In June 1990, all but one of the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee and one then Republican, Arlen Specter, warned future judicial nominees that membership in an organization that determines membership based on gender could be sufficient to deny confirmation. Further, it would be held against the nominee unless they "actively engaged" in efforts to get underrepresented groups into the organization.

Did Sotomayor try to get men admitted to the club? . . .

"Fire fighter promotion tests were designed specifically to ensure race neutrality, a test designed by the respected firm Industrial/Organization Solutions and used in many municipalities, but only whites and Hispanics passed it when it was given in New Haven. Sotomayor joined the ruling that said it was fine to throw out the test results simply because blacks had not passed at a rate that reflected their share in the population."

Her very own Affirmative Action program.

“...narrowly striking down...” Ah, way to go FOX. Try to give any legitimacy to this racist you possibly can. I guess a narrow decision—due to 4 radical leftists on the court who also phone in their decisions on cases like this—means that Soto was only a LITTLE BIT racist in her ludicrous belief that “since no blacks are smart enough, nobody is allowed to be smart enough.” What a superb viewpoint...a wonderful way to run a nation. Nobody is permitted to work hard and better themselves unless the least competent are given enough of an edge to win as well.

Interesting, note that CBS, in reporting the Supreme Court decision on the radio, said not a word about Sotomayor being on=verturned.

I think “...narrowly striking down...” is in the context of the 5 to 4 ruling and Sotomayor could be a dangerous tipping point the wrong way

I don’t think she creates a tipping point. She’s replacing Souter, a very reliable leftist with virtually no influence on the Court.

It’s really time to worry if Kennedy decides to retire. He is very often the fifth vote (on either side) of controversial decisions.

If Nino retires, I will probably move to another country.

Sonia Sotomayor is so racist/sexist...

...she thinks that the only benches white men belong on are the ones in the NBA.

...her definition of diversity means qualified whites should be deprived of spots in universities.

...she thinks racisms favoring minorities is superior to racism favoring majorities.

...her favorite TV show is "So you think you’re not white"

...she doesn’t think white people can’t control their kids so the government should, and everyone else’s as well just to be safe.

...when she says she is against the man, she means white firemen.

...the only gringos she likes are protected left turn light signals.

Q: What does SS call people who are given advantages including preferential selection for jobs and admissions to Ivy League schools due to the color of their skin?

A: Oppressed.

Q: What does SS call a self-educated working class white man who overcame a learning disability to try to earn a job promotion?

A: Lucky.

I hope Republican groups and the Republican Senate whack over the head with this ruling
