The older brother of the man who allegedly shot and killed an undercover Houston police officer last week is wanted in a gang-related slaying last year of a South Carolina man, authorities said.
Juan Pedroza Carrillo, 40, was one of three men linked to the November 2 fatal shooting of Jorge Alberto Vindel Ramos, 51, in Lexington County, S.C., authorities said.
Ramos was shot in the head and chest with a .380 semi-automatic pistol as he was working on his car outside his home, officials said.
While the motive for the killing remains under investigation, federal immigration officials confirmed that Carrillo, also known as Gordo, is a member of a Houston chapter of the violent MS-13 street gang organization.
Investigators believe Carrillo fled to Mexico after the slaying to avoid prosecution. He is the brother of Roberto Pedroza Carrillo, 37, who is accused of fatally shooting Houston police officer Henry Canales, 42, last Tuesday. Canales, authorities said, was posing as a thief selling stolen television sets.
Police said Canales was shot in the back but was able to fire a fatal shooting into Roberto Carrillos chest.
In December, the other men linked to the fatal shooting of Ramos, Martin Frias Teran, 34, and Josue Otoneil Benitez, 20, were arrested in Houston and extradited to South Carolina, where they remain in custody awaiting trial, officials said.

Well if his nickname is “Gordo,” he shouldn’t be too hard to find.
Just another illegal killing a cop.
Makes about the fifth one in Houston.
Nothing to see, move along.

Fire this "journalist". Immediately.
It’s hard to find good editors these days.
Sanctuary city no kidding. Plus you ought to see how the local media idiots are treating this. Same ol same ol. “He was a good man, a family man just trying to put food on the table and on and on.” He was an illegal and had been here SIXTEEN YEARS. Thanks for all the help there feds. We lost another police officer, another good man and another family man who was NOT breaking the law, but enforcing the law.
Where in the world did he find the .380 ammo??
I think it all went to Mexico.
