The democommies’ heads must be spinning in circles. And with typical lib illogic, they will cite this as “proof” that the Fairness Doctrine must be enacted.

AMERICA’S NEWSROOM BILL HEMMER & MEGYN KELLY 1,399,000

One of the best shows on TV period. These two work perfectly with each other. I wonder what the ratings for Red Eye are? A lot of people record it on DVR cause it is on so late in the East and Central time zones but is a huge cult hit as well.

Actually their argument (saw it on the DU) is that conservatives are vanishing if only 3.5 million turn into FOX News on a daily basis when we have a nation of 310 million people. They believe 40 million would be something.

Idiots have no idea how TV works.

I thought the same thing. His ratings are so close to Hannities, inspite of being in a worse time slot and being a newbie to Fox. Way to go, GB!

The amazing thing to me is that Beck holds the #3 spot and he’s on at 5 PM EST. I wonder what his ratings would be if he were on in PrimeTime.

I mentioned to my wife last week that in one day I saw Beck in the early morning show, his afternoon show, and then in O'Reilly's evening show. She observantly surmised that Fox was putting him on as much as possible to increase overall ratings. I'd say he's pretty well accomplished that. O'Reilly and Hannity better step it up a notch or Beck will pass them if given a comparable time slot.

Given how well Glen Beck is doing in a wasteland timeslot, it won’t be long before he in on at a later, better views slot. Given how OReilly audience is mostly older and Beck’s are younger, maybe they ought to swap places and see how the ratings go. Nothing against OReilly but look at who is watching him and who is advertisers are.

They also argue that restaurants, hotels and other public gathering places are adding to the ratings number because the “evil conservative” management leaves the TV on Fax all day.

Again, that ain’t how TV works. Those places are not counted in ratings polls.

Again, that ain’t how TV works. Those places are not counted in ratings polls. However, people who get to watch FOX in a hotel room or in a bank lobby, may decide that they like what they've seen and may be persuaded to tune them on at home also. Indirect wins towards ratings jumps.

I think a better move might be to have Brett at 6 give a good round-up of all the news in the first half hour of his show. Then, Shep's show won't be needed anymore and Beck could take over the 7-8 Pm time slot. Beck's show might turn out to be the biggest rated show on FOX if it was on at prime-time. O-reilly might then just become the runner-up.

I totally agree. I would like to see Fox remove Shep at 7PM and replace him with Kelly and Hemmer.

Both are top notch, hard hitting inquisitors.

Not to mention very pleasant to look at.

I also like Gutfeld.

Fox News turns off most Americans. Being associated with Fox News ratings might feel good , but it does more harm than good when America votes.

I think that people are starting to watch FNC because of the lost elections and the b*ll s!it that the other media is spewing. People can see for themselves that obama and gang are not gods like the other media is telling them. The people are starting to wake up.

I disagree. As more elections are lost and the media gets more absurd people turn to Fox (and Rush, and Drudge) as the only sources of truth. We see the same thing in publishing: our sales were down BIG in the last three or four years of the Bush administration, but (as with Clinton) they shot up once O was elected, because people need something to hold on to. After all, we are bitter clingers with our guns and religion.

CNN and MSNBC gained ratings during Bushe’s terms and lost after Obama won. THe reasons are obvious.

Seems more Americans turn off CNN and MSNBC no matter whose in office.

I dont think theres any connection. Fox had sky high ratings in 02 and 04 when we won elections.

What turned off most Americans was a war that had thousands being killed and hundreds of billions spent with no appreciable movement towards victory from 2005-2007. One that went from 51-45 approval in 04 to 36-63 disapproval in 08, a net shift of -33.

I mean, if we barely won an election in 04 when 51% supported the war, was it really realistic to think we’d win in 08 when only 36% supported it and 63% disapproved? In 04 Bush got exactly the same amount as those who supported the war(no coincidence, I believe). In 08 McCain got 30% higher than those who supported it. About as good as could be expected. I don’t think any incumbent party in US history has ever won an election when only 36% supported a war that was the foundation of their policy and was associated with them. The dems lost in 52 with Korea and 68 with Vietnam, both unpopular wars similar to Iraq. And they did a lot worse than we did last yr.

That and an economy in the most severe recession in decades with unemployment skyrocketing and the markets tanking at the same time. Again, no incumbent party wins in a recession either, see the dems in 1980 and the GOP in 1992, no to mention the recessions before the 76 election, the 60 election when the incumbent pary also lost. Even in 2000 there was the beginnings of a recession that ended up hurting Gore and the dems.

So last year we not only had a severe recession(moreso than 80 or 92), but a hugely unpopular war as well. Both at the same time. That almost never happens that you have a bad economy and an unpopular war at the same time. That turns off a whole lot more Americans than a TV station.

Throw in being outspent by 400+ milion dollars and house and senate candidates dropping like flies across the country, and it’s frankly amazing we did as well as we did.

I think FOX’s dominance is more that with the rest of the media being so pro Obama their ratings are increasing because theyre the only option for those who arent.

The vote was 53-47 for Obama, probably would be closer if taken today. So if the 53 or less are all divided among CNN, MSNBC, the networks, comedy central, just not watching because their guy won so who cares, etc...and the 47 are all concentrated in watching the only channel that reflects their views, of course that channel will do better. I

t’s like if you have a city where say people like Country over Classic Rock by a 53-47 margin but there’s 7 or 8 country radio stations and only one classic rock station, of coure the rock station is going to do better becuase they have a monopoly on it while the country stations all split the audience.

A friend of mine is a media person who follows Democrat stategies and polling. He called this unintended consequences.

He said there are enough “urban” homes that are part of the system who should vault Democrat shows ratings. Problem is they are either watching the WB or listening to urban radio(his words not mine) and could care less about what Matthews and Olbermann, or the people at NPR are saying.
