By E&P Staff
Published: June 30, 2009 2:32 PM ET NEW YORK She may not have won the Vice Presidency, but Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin did receive a consolation prize from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists (NSNC): the Sitting Duck Award.
Palin, running mate of GOP nominee John McCain, was selected for the award at the NSNC's Annual Conference, held last weekend in Ventura, Calif. She was nominated for "showing it's hard to put your best foot forward when it's in your mouth," according to the NSNC Web site. The Sitting Duck Award is given annually to the person "to whom columnists have turned in the last 12 months, when he or she is desperate for a topic and has to meet a deadline." Impeached Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich finished as the runner-up in the voting.
Palin did not appear to accept the award.

The left hates Her. So She must be doing something right
I wonder what kind of awards they give to out-of-work columnists. They better stock up.
Heh, a breed on the verge of extinction.
The libs are extremely scared of what this woman represents.
She’s so damned normal that it scares them.
Newspaper columnists, eh? Wonder if they’ll continue this annual event after their jobs no longer exist? They could use a little inward relection to see who are the true sittng ducks.
Whatever happened to the great idea of us ‘taking down’ these leftist journalists by exposing all of their piccadillos and swiss bank accounts?
They are all so corrupted now, there are plenty of MSM ‘sitting ducks’ just waiting to be taken down a notch or two!
Are there any awards for ‘my newspaper is going down the shitter so I have to talk crap about a governor from Alaska to get any attention awards?’
I’d like to see some examples of occasions when her foot was “in her mouth”. (I don’t seem to recall her saying that she had visited 57 states.)
Gee, I wonder why more decent family- loving people families don’t go into politics.
Speaking of foot in mouth, what about Joe Biden.
Also demonstrating that it is difficult if not impossible for a journalist to see objectively while prostrate with their lips pressed against the feet of Obama.
It ain't his feet their lips are pressed against.
Interesting that they didn’t provide any examples of her putting her foot in her mouth. If she had had a POTATO moment like Dan Quayle, they would surely be blaring it out.
A new standard for journalism: we don’t need proof; it just is because we say it is.
Gosh, and I bet they wonder why nobody reads the newspaper anymore...
What’s a newspaper columnist?
