6 Mousavi Supporters Reportedly Hanged
Jerusalem Post ^ | 1 July 2009 | Sabina Amidi

Posted on 07/01/2009 2:09:10 AM PDT by edpc

As the Iranian authorities warned the opposition on Tuesday that they would tolerate no further protests over the disputed June 12 presidential elections, a report emerged of the hangings of six supporters of defeated candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Speaking after Iran's top legislative body upheld the election victory of incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, sources in Iran told this reporter in a telephone interview that the hangings took place in the holy city of Mashhad on Monday. There was no independent confirmation of the report.

> A populace unarmed is a populace at the mercy of the Government.

Well, in this day and age, the only difference is that armed resistance to tyranny can at least die fighting, rather than dying with their hands tied behind their backs.

This is what I was afraid of. Against sheer brutality, the movement could peter out.

The question is that, after brutal suppression is done, he could be emboldened enough to do something really dangerous.

I was sure this was going to happen. People were saying he’d call out the tanks, but there was really no need for him to do so. Once Bambi made it clear that the US and hence the world press and institutions didn’t care, all Ahmadinejad had to do was let things die down (which was inevitable, since the people were unarmed and had no support) and then pick them up at his leisure.

I read that some had been arrested in the hospital days ago, and many others were being tracked through the Western made technology that he used to block and monitor their phone calls and Internet use.

It’s what many of us feared. We were not naive to think the mullahs would not sink to this level.

Their barbarism is what keeps them in power.

Many people would not go to the hospital. The reports I was able to read said that the hospital was nothing but a place of tears.

All the staff, the doctors and nurses would have to sit by and watch injured people being taken away and beaten.

And they could do nothing.

“What have you to say for yourself now Mr. President?”

I am sure he would just quote the article: “There was no independent confirmation of the report.”

He would completely ignore the fact that there can be no independent confirmation if all of the witnesses are killed. But I’m sure he would say something like “uh if... uh, there are uh people, uh being hanged in the streets, uh, uh... that uh, is uh, a problem.” Evil eye to reporter who asked the question.

"This is a conflict without battlefields or beachheads, a conflict with opponents who believe they are invisible. Yet, they are mistaken. Unless you're Iran, in which case you get a pass. Iran can kill our boys by financing (providing newly improved, shaped charge IEDs,) training and supporting guerilla operations agains our boys in Iraq and develop nuclear weapons. But nobody else better try this. They'd sure be sorry...

Some day every one of the goons and mullets will require hospital treatment for something.

A hospital can be a very dangerous place for a sick person...

Thanks to Obama, the Iranians’ one chance in thirty year to ovethrow a government that is not only dangerous to the outside, Wester world, but a heavy weight and handcuff on the Iranian people is now lost. I think the only thing that will change Iran is a military coup (which will never happen) or war with an outside nation (Israel, unbacked by America and the rest of the world, which means it must happen before 012)

Not exactly the ONLY difference. An armed populace can prevail against a despotic government. Its a fallacy that a military can easily crush an armed citizenry.

An F-16 can certainly drop a JDAM on an area with active armed resistance. But it becomes a very different game when attacking their own people. With decent intel, That F-16 pilot could be tragically carjacked and murdered when fueling his car. He might open a letter and find photos of his children at the park with their mom.

The point, is that an armed populace is very very deadly and not at all to be trifled with. This doesn’t even consider that the more brutal the depotic government’s crackdown, the more widespread resentment they create.
Also consider this, how effective would a military be when its war factories, repair depots, MRE factories, Ammo factories, etc are all within the combat zone?

I often hear how an armed populace is helpless against a modern military, i suspect war-colleges know differently.

Not to mention that the iranian military doesn’t even approach the capability of ours. In truth the US Military would have a nightmare of a problem in containing an American population in revolt.

The Iranian military would find it impossible. (if they were armed)

And militaries have an alarming habit of joining revolts. IE,,,Yeltsin standing in the tank as they stopped the Gorby symapthizing communists trying to take back control. Citizen militaries are a bad problem for despots.
