Former lightweight champion, Managua mayor Alexis Arguello found dead at his home

MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) — Former boxing champion Alexis Arguello, considered one of the best lightweights to step in the ring, has been found dead.

Presidential spokeswoman Rosario Murillo confirmed Arguello's death early Wednesday.

I had the privelge meeting Arguello twice. He was very personable, very pro-American, he played a role in improving trade relations between the U.S. and Nicaragua.

I will never forget shaking his hand, His fist was solid as a Brick. A true professional, I'm sorry to hear this news.
