Didn’t the US just authorize a few billion in military aid to Israel? Shouldn’t that money be given with strings attached? Shouldn’t we review Israel’s policies toward it’s neighbors whose lands they have stolen? It seems that there is no one in government who has the cajones to start posing these questions.

The King of Jordan is an A OK guy. The Queen is also fine. Abdullah of Jordan is certainly by far the best guy from all Arab leaders, the most Western oriented Arab leader and after all half-British.

Revisit your history, not the myths and fairy tales. Read about the Irgun and Stern gangs in the late 1940’s. Your level of assumed knowledge is deeply flawed. You are lock-step following the party line. Do yourself an intellectual favor and do some quality research. This is not to condemn jews or Israel but to shine some truthful light on the situation. We are all of us sadly misinformed and propagandized. THINK,sir. Don’t just knee-jerk react to what is “politically correct”.

I have revisited and learned that history, sir. In depth. You have swallowed some serious propaganda too. Maybe you should visit some other websites than those with an ax to grind against Israel, Jews, or both.

The myth of “a land with no people for a people with no land” is utter nonsense. The two page letter from Lord Balfor santioning the Zionists’ populating of the Palistian lands was just a way to appease them. The current population of largely Khazar, not Semetic, converted jews has far exceeded the bounds of that agreement. Do your research and educate yourself. We are allowed to criticize Israel and that does not make us anti-Semites.

We are all propagandized. I do make it a point to visit many different web sites with varying points-of-view. As I’m sure you know, after a while you learn to sift through the nonsense and realize who has something reasonably well researched to say vs. the ranters. The history of Israel carries a lot of emotional baggage for many of us and there are a lot of myths and misstatements. I live in New York City and have had many discussions with my Jewish and non-Jewish friends regarding the history of that region. Blind devotion to Israel is not an intellectual decision but an emotional bonding. I don’t wish the country ill, or its population, but I haven’t been afflicted by that bond.

Do you consider the land taken by Israel in the 1967 and 1973 wars to be 'stolen'? Do you advocate the return of Israel back to its 1949 borders, or dissolving the state of Israel altogether?

No matter the circumstances in how Israel came into being, the cold reality is that any return of land now would endanger Israel's very existence. The arabs have made it quite clear that the only true solution to the problem of the 'Zionist entity' is its eradication.

All the public talk about trading land for peace is nonsense, therefore there is no benefit to Israel nor to the West for any 'stolen' land to be returned. Any such gesture would not bring peace any closer, and may even bring the Mideast closer to all-out war.

So first you buy Marxist/Labour/Third Worldist tripe about the Israeli right. And now you regurgitate the communist lie about all or even most Ashkenazi Jews being Khazars. IGNORANT FAIL by means of resentment politics trumping purported conservatism.

Russia 'stole' Kalingrad (formerly Konigsberg) in exactly the same way that Israel 'stole' Jerusalem - it was land taken from a defeated aggressor.

Russia should give up its only ice-free baltic port - and not just give it up, but give it back to Nazis, to people who actively want to destroy the Slavic race, before Israel should give up a square foot of land to people who hate it.

About 3/4 of the land taken in 1967 has already been returned. Of what's left, the West Bank, it was taken by Arabs in 1948 and Jews expelled, retaken in 1967. Save the 19 years of Arab apartheid, Jews lived there for three millenia.

Gentlemen or Ladies, whomever you are. The USSR also sought out a murdered millions of Christians because Cristianity is antathetical to Communism. As I was raised a Christian, that is as much of a Holocaust for me as the horrors of WWII. agere_contra, could you please elaborate a bit more. Your post is gibberish. Let’s all of us cut through the BS of our, yes all of us, deficient educations and explore. We are all overly sated by misinformation through our so called “educational” system. Question everything your parents and teachers ever “taught” you. If it holds up to scrutiny, fine. If not, relax and move on and hold no grudges. Be well Ladies and Gentlemen. Good day.

Aren't you on the wrong forum? DU is where they trash Israel and lie about Israel stealing land that was taken because of wars the muslims started. As far as I am concerned Israel can nuke the crap out of every muslim nation that surrounds her. I would be just as happy.

Millions of Christians, Jews, Muslims and animists of all types were murdered or sent to their deaths in gulags for the anti-revolutionary act of being religious. Had Stalin lived much longer, Soviet Jews would have been died on the tens of thousands in 1954 as he planned to round them up and march them to Birobijan.
Don't presume to lecture me about communism. Here is a short, and probably low ball, list of family killed by the communists.
Father's family: 1 uncle shot on the spot when the soviet's came in. During the Polish-Soviet War, he had organized Galician Jews to oppose the communists and along with my paternal grandfather, he fought in that war. Another uncle and his wife and children packed up to work on Soviet Oil fields, where they died.
Mother's family. My mother's father and 2 brothers, all refugees from Nazi occupied Poland where they buried two brothers, were sent to gulags. One of these was killed. Another survived but later died of cancer from exposure to toxins from his forced mining. My maternal grandfather was the only one in 2 generations to survive the Nazis and communists. My mother's mother lost a cousin.

Of course deaths alone don't paint the whole picture. My father's immediate family survived World War 2 and tried to rebuild their lives in Poland. My father became a doctor, although to go to medical school he first had to teach Marxism. My father's father built a small shipping company. This was expropriated in 1954 on the grounds that he was a Zionist. They were able to leave Poland, all but Zloty-less, later that year and migrated to Israel.
My mother's mother had cousins who remained in Poland after the war. (Ironically, some of them were neighbors of my father and one of whom went to medical school with him.) Many lost their jobs or were otherwise made unwelcome and were among the 50,000 who left between 1957 and 1959.

And do look at my profile page before you assume that I was a mindless drone vis-a-vis indoctrination. As a student you did not call out Eric Foner, the head of the History Department, former head of the OAH, and then current President of the American Historical Association for lying about his families communist activities, during a Q&A session on McCarthyism. You did not host and hold a CSPAN televised symposium on the lies of Michael Bellesiles on the very day your university gave him the Bancroft Award.

Nah, I just enjoy stirring the hornets’ nest. I don’t have a problem with the country of Israel or the Jewish people, just its conservative government, this administration and the last. I also have sympathy for the Arabs as they are racistly targeted by the Israeli gov. Not all arabs are terrorists and not all jews are terrorists, just some. As to my spelling as another poster mentioned, it’s not my strong suit and I quite frankly don’t care. So be it.

If you are taking a devil’s advocate position to stimulate argument, well, OK I guess, but singling out Israel as racist, when Arabs prosper there while the entire Arab world is nearly Jew-free... and when Arab governments proudly announce their genocidal ambitions and launch wars to that end, with the support of their people?

I think you have to take a different look at the history. The Middle East was basically peaceful befor the 1940’s with Muslims, Jews and Christians living in relative harmony. That changed with the Zionist takeover of lands in the late ‘40’s. The hatred of some countries of Israel has bee caused by Israel’s actions toward their countries. They are hated by some because of their behavior and policies. It’s too late to reverse what has happened but, in my opinion, Israel is one of the biggest mistakes of the 20th and now the 21st centuries. You and I will probably differ on this and, again, I have nothing against the people of Israel, just their government.

You really need to learn more about Muslim treatment of non-Muslims. So long as non-Muslims live in a state of Dhimmitude, they only suffer high taxes, gradual cultural destruction, kidnappings and rape-marriages punctated by terror and violent pogroms. If they do anything the Muslims dislike they are subject to mass murder. Some peace.

Look up what the Turks did to the Armenians and pick up a copy of Robert Spencer's Myth of Islamic Tolerence.
