Poll: More Americans Say Democrats are 'Too Liberal'

'The American people are very dissatisfied with the direction of the country.'

A new Gallup poll shows a marked increase in the percentage of Americans who consider the Democratic Party's views as being "too liberal." The number rose from 39 to 46 percent.

Brian Darling, director of senate relations for The Heritage Foundation, interpreted the increase as an indication of the difference in people's perception before and after the presidential election.

"I think many perceive that the Obama administration is packed more to the left than President Obama campaigned for as president," he said.

Darling added that numbers also indicate Americans are generally unhappy with the nation's lawmakers.

"They don't like Congress," he said. "The American people are very dissatisfied with the direction of the country. I think's it's a bipartisan problem."

Tim Graham, director of media analysis for the Media Research Center, said people are starting to see the Democrats' real agenda.

"Now that the Democrats are in power and are trying to pass large bills through Congress," Graham said, "it shouldn't be surprising on some levels that people in the middle see that it's too extreme."

Darling also noted that values voters are watching how both parties handle important issues such as same-sex marriage.

"The American people are very much against (gay marriage). They've proven it at the ballot box on numerous occasions," he said. "The California initiative to declare that marriage is between a man and a woman was supported by a number of people that voted for Barack Obama for president."

The Gallup numbers show no change in the past year in the percentage of Americans who describe the Republican Party as "too conservative." The percentage of Americans who say the GOP leans too far to the right remains at 43 percent."

This is natural for being in charge totally and will get worse for them now that they have 60 in Senate and republicans LOOK powerless but in fact will STOP things. That will be the new story. If dems cut deals with republicans the Pelosi libs will bolt leaving Obamo dry.

I think it’s probably a little too late for the “too liberal” label. “More Americans” might want to pay a little more attention to what is going on. Communism is coming at us so fast, they are going to miss the process of how we got there if they blink.

“The Democrats are losing.”

Maybe, but are conservatives winning?
If people don't wake up before 2010’s elections then the libs will own all 3 branches of government and have a lock tight grip on the voting system through acorn. We'll be in for 99 percent majority victories for Obama’s 1000 year reich, even if everyone votes no.

Why would the Dems even care, then, what the latest poll says? They are in consolidation mode and odds are in their favor, if recent history is any guide. Most Americans don't even bother to inform themselves, and when they try, they watch Oprah.

'The American people are very dissatisfied with the direction of the country.'

That is putting it far too mildly.

...Americans who consider the Democratic Party's views as being "too liberal."

Too liberal doesn't even begin to cover it.

"I think many perceive that the Obama administration is packed more to the left than President Obama campaigned for as president,"

I don't just perceive it, obama's leap to the left is fact, not merely perception. He is so socialist/fascist it isn't even funny. McCarthy must be rolling in his grave. He wouldn't have to go looking for evidence of subversion this time around. It is right there on the desk in the Oval Office every day.

...Americans are generally unhappy with the nation's lawmakers.

I can only think of one I'm not spitting and swearing angry at, and she lives all the way up in Alaska.

"They don't like Congress," he said. "The American people are very dissatisfied with the direction of the country. I think's it's a bipartisan problem."

No, we absolutely hate the elitist "screw the public, we'll do what's in our best interests" attitude in Congress. It is a bipartisan problem, but there really is only one party driving the bus - the democrats. They get the vast majority of the blame for the disastrous direction the Country is going in. It is an obama lead suicide run for the cliff.

...people are starting to see the Democrats' real agenda.

Yeah, and it goes against just about everything this great Country was founded on, and is completely out of whack compared to the desires of the majority of Americans: Democrat, Republican, liberal or conservative. The 'rat "leadership" with obama at the helm is charging off into a socialist/fascist nightmare.

"Now that the Democrats are in power and are trying to pass large bills through Congress," Graham said, "it shouldn't be surprising on some levels that people in the middle see that it's too extreme."

They are, by their own admission, not even reading the damn things! There has to be a deeper, hidden agenda behind so many of these "don't think, we've got to act or else" moves.

When Democrats win then America loses. Just wait until this new crop of Obama worshippers get ZERO’d in their own wallets royally! Chains they don’t need instead of change they wanted.

the Obama administration is packed more to the left than President Obama campaigned for as president,"

Not true. Obama's statements during the campaign made very clear his extreme leftist inclinations and ideas. It's just that too many people weren't listening.

He basically said that the US Constitution is a flawed document because it places too many restrictions on government, and that a way has to be found around those restrictions legislatively because the courts have been unable to to do it sufficiently.

That single statement, on top of all the other stuff about spreading the wealth, the civilian security force, and his economic worldview made it crystal clear to anyone who really listened that Obama is really extremely far to the left.
