Today, in response to recent events, including the Iranian election authoritys announcement closing any inquiry into last months election, a group of leading election law attorneys released the following statement in support of the people of Iran:
Statement in Support of the People of Iran
As election lawyers, we wish to express our support for the People of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stand in solidarity with their desire for free, fair and honest elections. Regardless of our individual political affiliations, we stand as one in support of the right of people everywhere to peacefully decide issues, form and direct their leadership and petition their own representative government through an unfettered ballot box. We extend our warm wishes to the brave and good Iranian people as they debate and decide their own future of freedom. We call upon all lawyers and all citizens to join with us to encourage a fair election and vote count in Iran. We know that this is their time, their debate and their decision. We know it is their decisions that must serve their needs, hopes and dreams. We want them to know that we are their Friends in Peace and Brothers and Sisters in Democracy.

Good for them; more backbone and decency than we see demonstrated in the White House.
There could be a case made that the same thing (illegal election due to massive election fraud) happened here in the US. How can we, as a nation, condemn Iran for what we have allowed to happen to us?
