Contrast what the Democrats are doing here with the Old Politics ~ retrieving property from slums by using your tax dollars to knock down nasty buildings ~ and what the very same Democrats want to do under Crap & Tax when you try to sell your house ~ fix it up, buy new appliances, insulate, etc.

You can just imagine what happens to these "slum clearance" projects when even the federales can't buy the properties to knock down until they're modernized to EPA standards.

Declare the city a tax-free zone and it’ll be a sprawling metropolis within months.

I saw Gary as an example of the decay that occurs in a History Channel episode of “Life After People”. This and Chernobyl have been good examples of what things look like when people disappear. Next up Detroit and many other American Inner Cities.

“Dust off for orbit and nuke Gary, IN from space. It is the only way to be safe.”

Line from Aliens and the welfare recips and other vermin in gary are worse than the aliens.

I say we sell Gary to Chicago and save the money. It is really not part of Indiana anyway.

better yet declare the city a public health and safety hazard and burn it to the ground and send everyone living there to a)chicago, b)detroit, c) prison, or d)venezuela.

The Republicans should attach a rider requiring a large billobard every 1000 feet, with the words “This is what electing Democrats brings you”...

That is over 200k per building to tear them down? Sounds like they are funding a rebuild not tear down. Somebody is getting rich off this.

Don't know quite why, but the title brought this to mind.

Cheers!

$23,000 per building, but 200 of them are larger commercial buildings. I’d think it’s more like $1500 per house (’cause you have to do it someone safely and there’s debris to get rid of). A large 2 or 3 story brick on steel frame building can take a whopping bunch of money to clear out.

Gary not really part of Indiana?

Obama carried Indiana by a narrow margin. I wonder if he carried the state because he built up a huge margin in Gary, which offset more Republican parts of the state.

I heard they want to build a Michael Jackson museum in Gary. That would be promoted as an economic development project, I’m sure, if it happens.

But, would big numbers of tourists venture out into the rest of Gary, if they come in to see the museum?

Want to annihilate a city, turn it into uninhabitable ruins?

2 choices:

1) carpet bomb it like Dresden in World War 2.

2) elect democrats.

Gary smells (as in stinks), I doubt anyone would want to visit the Jackson shack, if it still exists. I would rather visit David Lee Roth’s home... it is somewhere in Indiana, so I have heard.

Not surprised. I’ve been saying for 15 years that the 3 biggest ****holes in America are, Detroit MI, Gary IN, and Texarcana AR

By missing an exit off 80/94 to I-65 South, I was in the near heart of the beast today. My exit to do a turn back was closed so I drove to another highway to get on 65. The point is I noticed that nearly every business had fence or steel bar type doors and even many houses had bars over all the windows and steel security doors. It was sobering to see.

Democrats use government money in substitute for thinking. Here's an idea, set loose three or four Robosaurus robots lose to battle each other in Gary in a live reality tv show. Free destruction. Best. TV show. Ever.
