U.S. 'ready' for N. Korean missile

Pyongyang expected to test ICBM

By Bill Gertz July 2, 2009

COLORADO SPRINGS | U.S. missile defenses are prepared to try to knock down the last stage of a Taepodong-2 missile that North Korea is expected soon to launch if sensors detect the weapon threatens U.S. territory, the commander of the U.S. Northern Command told The Washington Times.

"The nation has a very, very credible ballistic-missile defense capability. Our ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California, I'm very comfortable, give me a capability that if we really are threatened by a long-range ICBM that I've got high confidence that I could interdict that flight before it caused huge damage to any U.S. territory," said Air Force Gen. Victor E. "Gene" Renuart, Northcom commander.

The general said the United States won't activate its missile defenses if the North Korean missile appears it will fall safely into the water as the country's last test missile did.

Asked if North Korea is likely to conduct a July 4 Taepodong-2 test, as occurred in 2006, Gen. Renuart said in an interview this week with The Times at Northern Command headquarters at Peterson Air Force Base, "I think we ought to assume there might be one on the Fourth of July and continue to be prepared and ready."

How did we get to this point where NK can test its ICBM on the US?????

There was this election back in November 2008 see?

And on one side there was this snake oil salesman who lied really well, and all the dumb, gullible voters, with the prodding of the media, went and voted for him.

At the same time, the other guy was a total piece of crap. So most of the people didn't vote FOR him so much as the voted AGAINST the snake oil salesman.

And that's no way to win an election!

So now we have 4 years of being force fed snake oil! And watching the North Koreans launching missles towards us.

"How did we get to this point where NK can test its ICBM on the US?????"

A very good question. If we had a president that was even half a man, or leader, he would boldly state that any ballistic missile fired upon the United States or any of its allies would trigger an immediate retaliation, and the use of ICBMs would be an option if necessary. NK would pick up their toy missiles, and fire them in another direction, if they fired them at all.

Isn't shooting a missile at another country an act of war?

Where is the logic in the idea that we can either shoot it down or it won't make it OK?

Crazy.

Ground based Defenses in California and Alaska aren't going to help much if the target is Hawaii, or some US Pacific territory like Guam or Midway. The missiles available in Hawaii may not be able to intercept something coming in as fast as a missile launched in North Korea would be.

Of course Obummer has canceled additional missiles of the type that are in Alaska and at Vandenberg AFB in CA, which can do the job.

You don't suppose The Messiah, The One, has passed the WGS-84 (GPS) coordinates of the Hawaii Department of Health Statistics vault to Little Kim, do you?

This has IMHO China’s hand all over it. The NK’s are surrogates for China’s desire to see if the capability is there to shoot down an ICBM with another missile. Little Kim can’t ever fart without the chicom’s permission. The chinese are testing US capability nothing more. The implication of an ICBM getting shot down by the US can have massive repercussions in how China deals with the US in the arms race that is surely to follow. Or little Kim is f’en nuts!!!!

We can "knock it down" along with the other stages while it's on the lauch pad.

Apparently not when Obama is pResident/CinC, otherwise you'd think he, or his minions, might publicly remind Little Kim, and Ahmanutjob, of that little fact. And that acts of war against nations with Trident ballistic missile submarines, Stealth bombers and several hundred land based, nuclear armed, ICBMS, is not a "Good Idea".

NK’s aren’t going to shoot one July 4 (at least according to other sources, who say the week long preparation it takes to do it hasn’t started yet)

Right on. We need to smash it while still on the launch pad so they’ll learn a lesson never to mess with the US of A- Oh! that can’t happen, we have Obama

Or if we used the ABL, a big a$$ laser in a 747, we could take out the first stage as it lifts off. But Obama has relegated the ABL to a "research only" status.

If B.O. doesn’t give the order to destroy it on the launch pad, after NK expressly said “This one’s for you.”, he will be forever known as the coward who started WWIII!

“[NK Wouldn’t Have Dreamt Of A Missile Firing Under Reagan!]”
Ya got that right, but Reagan loved this country and had a set of balls.
This ass clown we have now doesn’t like the America and is trying his best to drag us down to the level of the rest of this sorry world.
He is an un American socialist punk and when he gets the beatdown that will surely come I’ll dance in the street.

Exactly. How hard can it be to take out a few launch pads?. We know where they are.
