Wisconsin's new third senator (barf alert)
Capital Times ^ | 02 july 09 | John Nichols

Posted on 07/02/2009 4:53:41 AM PDT by rellimpank

Back in the 1950s, when Republican "red" Wisconsin was represented by the lamentable Alexander Wiley and the reprehensible Joe McCarthy in the U.S. Senate, the state's most enlightened citizens adopted Minnesota Democratic Farmer Laborite Hubert Humphrey as "Wisconsin's third senator."

Humphrey embraced the role, spending a good deal of time on this side of the Mississippi and developing a network of allies and associates in the state's burgeoning Democratic party. It wasn't enough to win him the 1960 Democratic presidential primary contest with John Kennedy, a defeat that Humphrey once told me broke his heart. But to the last days of his life, the senator, vice president and frequent presidential candidate saw himself as representing not just Minnesota but Wisconsin.

... Franken has lots of ties to Wisconsin... he headlined some of the most crowded and energetic events Madison has seen -- including wildly enthusiastic broadcasts of his old Air America radio show from the UW Memorial Union and the Barrymore Theater.

Wow, The Man must have really distorted Al Franken's ratings in order to get his entire network canceled, not just his show.

On the other hand, I have driven past some dairy farms in Wisconsin that have a smell that reminds me of Al Franken...

Please. The Capitol Time is a hard left newspaper and John Nichols is a socialist/communist. This paper used to be a daily subscription-based paper in the liberal city of Madison. Even in the looney city of Madison wouldn’t support this paper as it now is relegated to give-away status. That’s right, the Capitol Times sits on street corners as a give-away paper. It’s a leftist rag that has no influence except within narrow counter-culture circles.

... and the reprehensible Joe McCarthy ...

Stopped reading at this point. Maybe the author ought to point out what a great person Hitler was too.

“That’s right, the Capitol Times sits on street corners as a give-away paper. It’s a leftist rag that has no influence except within narrow counter-culture circles.”

Unfortunately, the leftist rags in this town are funded by a trust that never seems to run out of money. (The Evjue Foundation.)

But, 0bama’s gonna fix THAT, LOL!

Talk about ‘chickens coming home to roost!’ I don’t think the Left is going to see the financial damage 0 & Crew are doing to THEIR side until long after he’s gone.

And then, of course, they’ll still blame Prsident Bush. *Rolleyes*

SNIP:

“Mr. Evjue’s paper has had a proud history. It has been at the forefront of Wisconsin’s famed Progressive movement and has prided itself in fighting for the underdog, the very people who were without influence or wealth.”

"reprehensible Joe McCarthy" Reprehensible Joe McCarthy? Reprehensible? The only people he's reprehensible to are the Communists. reprehensible |ˌrepriˈhensəbəl| adjective "deserving censure or condemnation" - - - Sounds like your average Communist party member to me. Joe ferreted you rats out of the woodpile and you never got over it. Crawl back under the rock until it's extermination time for you.

"Nichols"

And naturally Nichols was/is a regular on Wisconsin Public Radio. At least he was the last time I listened which must be at least five years ago or more. They didn't even have the decency to tell their listeners about Nichols's background as a Marxist.

William T. Evjue decided as a young man to become a newspaperman. It was the profession, he felt, that could make a difference in advocating equality for the common person.

And the newspapers and the media haven't stopped being vehicles for personal advocacy since. So the real purpose of journalism is advocacy first, huh? Who and what is to be advocated? Oh, the newspaperman gets to advocate his personal beliefs and mask that as news, huh? Great, just great.

"Back in the 1950s, when Republican "red" Wisconsin was represented by the lamentable Alexander Wiley and the reprehensible Joe McCarthy in the U.S. Senate,"

Communists are Reds, not Republicans, and so is this a$$hole author. Wiley and McCarthy were two of the best Senators Wisconsin ever had.

You want 3 senators? Here, how about Wisconsin takes both of our senators. Hell, how about Wisconsin takes everything East of Saint Louis Park?
