New Evidence Cheney Swayed Reaction to Leak (Obama still hunting)
Washington Post ^ | 7-3-09 | R. Jefferey Smith

A document filed in federal court this week by the Justice Department offers new evidence that former vice president Richard B. Cheney helped steer the Bush administration's public response to the disclosure of Valerie Plame Wilson's employment by the CIA and that he was at the center of many related administration deliberations.

The administration's discussion of Wilson's link to the CIA was meant to undermine criticism by her husband of administration allegations that Iraq attempted to acquire uranium, a matter that her husband had probed for the CIA, according to testimony presented in a 2007 trial.

*snip*

He mentioned in particular Cheney's discussion of his conversation with then-CIA Director George J. Tenet about "the decision to send Ambassador Joseph Wilson on a fact-finding mission to Niger in 2002." Wilson is the former CIA operative's husband, and a report he filed after the trip cast doubt on claims that Iraq had purchased uranium from Niger for a nuclear weapons program.

The administration's discussion of Wilson's link to the CIA was meant to undermine CORRECT criticism by her husband. (There, fixed it.)

Washington Post’s credibility sells for $25,000 to $250,000.

How about some evidence that this poor nation, ready to celebrate freedom and independence (why?), is being ruled by a sinister collection of marxist, America-hating, clueless imbeciles?

Saddam’s word means anything? Saddam did cry wolf but not necessarily for Iran...Richard Armitage and Colin Powell both lied because of their dislike of President Bush and Patrick Fitzgerald knew from the get-go where the truth lay about Libby. Powell is a real Snake-in-the-Grass, I wouldn’t trust a thing that man says any more that I would trust the late Saddam Hussein....any more than I trust Obama to do what he wants you to think he is doing....he actually does what he says he will do while manufacturing one crisis after another for you to believe in.............

so let’s look at this...

we have a VP in Dick Cheney who gets involved in national security issues and wants to help his POTUS....then we have brain dead joe biden, who claims his administration will be tested on national security and is likely to come up with the incorrect response and further, has been nothing but an embarassment the six months he’s been VP...

you decide....

I am under the impression that, contrary to this article, when Wilson returned from his trip he filed no written report but instead was debriefed by two agents of the FBI whose written notes show that Wilson actually confirmed the attempt to secure uranium. I am aware the second time Washington Post has asserted:

Wilson is the former CIA operative's husband, and a report he filed after the trip cast doubt on claims that Iraq had purchased uranium from Niger for a nuclear weapons program. President George W. Bush cited those claims as part of the justification for the Iraq war

Does anyone know which version is true? I rather thought that Wilson's first assertion was in his letter to the New York Times.

Breaking news — Dick Cheney, #2 in the Bush Administration, attempted to sway the policies of the Bush Administration. I’m floored.

A list of at least seven related conversations involving Cheney appears in a new court filing approved by Obama appointees at the Justice Department. In the filing, the officials argue that the substance of what Cheney told special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald in 2004 must remain secret .... The Obama administration has since agreed that the material should not be disclosed.

If Ubama and Breuer want the material kept secret, then it must be embarrasing to the rats.

As Liz Cheney keeps raising her profile - we will see the state run media ramp up their attacks on her father, making her guilty of something by association.

The Audacity of bull sh#t. Even if Cheney leaked directly, let's talk about real crimes and illegal conduct shall we? Foreign campaign contributions, ACORN, voting rights violations in Philadelphia, sacking IG's, not constitutionally qualified to hold office, "I will let you keep your doctor," just off the top of my head. Is there an official list? Lookinh forward to the congressional hearings in 2011.

Valerie Plame’s identity was leaked to the press by Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, who strongly opposed the 2003 Iraq War, and who was a key adviser to Colin Powell.

This Washington Post article does not even mention Armitage’s name.

Instead, it implies that former Vice President Cheney, who vigorously supported the Iraq War, may have been connected to the leak or may have actively directed a cover up.

Attempting to keep the Plame "scandal" alive till her movies open. Nice try, Washington Post, but no one cares.

We actually care more about the real CIA agents who were outted by you and the New York Times in the "torture" memos.
