Democrats Call Sarah Palin's Cryptic Resignation 'Bizarre'
NewsMax / The Washington Times ^ | July 3, 2009 | Donald Lambro

Posted on 07/03/2009 5:01:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Republican Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska announced Friday that she will resign her office July 26, fueling speculation that she intends to spend the next four years pursuing her party's presidential nomination in 2012.

Mrs. Palin made her stunning announcement at her Wasilla home with Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will be sworn into office at the end of the month, she said. She did not take questions from reporters and only cryptically referred to her future plans.

In her announcement, she said it "hurts to make this choice," but compared herself to a point guard in basketball.

"A good point guard knows exactly when to pass the ball so the team can win," she said. "I know when it is time to pass the ball for victory." She added the decision to step down had been "in the works for a while."

--snip--

Democrats portrayed the decision as following a pattern of "bizarre behavior" coming from the Alaska governor.

"Either Sarah Palin is leaving the people of Alaska high and dry to pursue her long shot national political ambitions or she simply can't handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan.

---snip---

While not detailing her plans. Mrs. Palin has been building up her political warchest in recent days, even as speculation over her political future mounted.

The Anchorage Daily News reported earlier this week that SarahPAC, the governor's political action campaign, sent out an e-mail seeking new contributions from supporters, in part to boost Mrs. Palin's fund-raising totals ahead of the June 30 reporting deadline to the Federal Election Commission.(continued)

Anybody thought about what Rush Limbaugh said about working on something very big that he hoped he would be able to announce soon?

Makes me wonder...

True. But with a difference in reason.

One quit for her own benefit.

The other quit for the state's benefit.

She’s “leaving the citizens of Alaska high and dry.” This from the people who think she’s grossly incompetent and has no idea what the world is like.

Fools.

She is bizarre in the world of politics, all right. I read her comments and she says she doesn’t want to be a lame duck and waste taxpayer’s money going on trips and being less than fully productive. So she’s turning it over to her lieutenant and he can run for re-election. She beat them at the game and I think she’s going to go on outsmarting the lefties.

Go, Sarah! I’d crawl through broken glass on my hands and knees to vote for her, and I might have to.

Exactly. She is no longer a sitting target in Alaska. She is now a moving target on her own accord. When she hits her targets, it is typically lethal.

Trust me, they (the DNC and Hussien) are getting more anxious by the minute. This shocks and scares them.

Especially Hussein. Hillary to the left of him, Palin to the right. Multiple front political wars usually don’t end up victorious.

When you look at this in-depth, it's a wise decision.
She was getting hit left and right with bogus ethics
charges, chicken-s--t McCain campaign staffers backstabbing her, and
the Left trashing her family.

It's not a matter of whether or not she can "hack" it, it's just stepping aside and putting the needs of the people ahead of your personal ambitions and popularity.
Now she's free as a bird, and my first recommendation for the Palins is to just completely take a dump and go on vacation or something (Psst - Door County! Door County!) and don't even think about politics.
Then come back and be loaded for bear.

Probably cowinkidink .... but ... as fast and furious as speculation is flying, it is just as valid as anything else out there.

In reality, what I see is a very capapable and very intelligent executive, that has drawn 2 cards and placed amd raised her bid. I would hate to play poker with her. I suspect we have not heard the last of this woman of integrity. Or is that just my hopeful thinking .. wishing out loud.

Yeah. It's obvious she has something planned. She could be a major force for good while burnishing her credentials for a run. She like the rest of us who are genuine conservatives is very upset at what is being done to our nation. It'll be fun to watch the pundits make asses out of themselves while they try to out guess her. I can't wait!

I've not been her greatest fan, believing that she was in need of some seasoning before she would be ready for the big run, but this move is just tasty. It's killing the press and the big name pundits...and very much in character for her.

I suspect that if she makes the right play, this will boost her popularity even in the face of the government run media assault.

Gov. Palin is re loading and has more opportunity to be heard in other states and called on by Republican candidates for the House, Sen, and Gov.

It is one thing to live in one of the lower 48 states
and travel to other states but way up in the NW and to travel around the 48 to be known and heard while still
serving as Gov. - You see her reasoning.

lso Sarah is writing a book and others will learn what some of us know already, how she was treated when she
ran for VP.

An unremitting campaign of massive character assassination by the democrat party against Palin (and any other viable republican opponent) produces a resignation that is bizarre?

What is bizarre is that a Lexis/Nexis search of corrupted and evil media reveals far more negative and hateful criticism of Palin (a fine woman and a TERRIFIC Alaskan Governor) that the criminal Chicago Machine ex-Illinois governor Blago.

How is that for a perfectly controlled experiment?
