Russian and US media continue to discuss the forthcoming official visit of US President Barack Obama to Russia on July 6-8. Obama gave an exclusive interview to Itar-Tass news agency and Russia TV Channel.
In his first-ever interview for the Russia media, the US president spoke about the relations between the two countries and shared his thoughts about the Russian leaders President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
The interview will be broadcast on July 4 on Russia TV Channel.
The US president said that the recent years of the US-Russian relations left much to be desired. Mr. Obama believes that the two countries have new opportunities for cooperation on a wide range of issues. Obama said that he wants the Kremlin to know that America treats Russia with respect and intends to build its relations with the country on the basis of equality.
Obama believes that the United States and Russia carry special responsibility in the world as nuclear powers. Barack Obama described Russia as a great country with extraordinary culture and traditions.
The US president expressed his personal thoughts about the persona of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Obama described his Russian counterpart as a thoughtful and progressive person who successfully leads Russia in the 21st century.
Obama is certain that the mutual understanding between the leaders of such countries as Russia and the United States is very important.
Barack Obama has already had a chance to personally meet Russias Dmitry Medvedev. The US President has never met Prime Minister Vladimir Putin before, but he already knows what kind of a person Putin is. Obama described Putin as a very strong leader of the Russian nation.
Russian special services take unprecedented security measures on the threshold of Obamas historic visit to Moscow.
Several dozens of Russian fighter jets will be on alert at air bases on the outskirts of Moscow. The air space of the Moscow region was declared the air-exclusion zone.
Most likely, the US President will stay in Moscow at Ritz-Carlton Hotel. He can also choose from the luxury residence for guests in the Kremlin or Marriott Grand Hotel, Interfax reports.
The previous US presidents - Bill Clinton and George W. Bush - preferred to stay at Marriott Grand Hotel during their visits to Moscow. The hotel was closed for all other visitors when Bush visited Moscow. The procession of over 40 vehicles and buses accompanied Bush on his way to the hotel.
Ritz-Carlton has closed the booking for July 5-8, whereas Marriott does not seem to be taking any special preparations at the moment. Nevertheless, the administration of Ritz-Carlton did not make an official confirmation of Obamas decision to pick the hotel for his stay in Russias capital.
If Obama chooses Ritz, he will be accommodated in a five-room Kremlin view luxury suite with huge panoramic windows. The bathroom in the suit is tiled with marble, an employee of the hotel said. There is a special room in the bathroom, where the US president will be able to enjoy a tropic shower.
The presidential suite at Ritz-Carlton Hotel costs 430,000 rubles a night ($13,870). The cheapest suite at the hotel costs 35,000 rubles a night ($1,129). Ritz-Carlton is located in the heart of Moscow, on Tverskaya Street, near the Kremlin.
There is nothing to good for our POS.
“Movin’ on up”. Political Jeffersons.
Hope he forgets to bring the food taster...
It’s Good To Be King
Movin’ on up; movin’ on up.
We finely got a piece of the pi-eye-eye.
Just make sure the thermostat isn’t set to 72 degrees.
I guess we could look at it this way: one night at the Ritz is still cheaper than his NYC “date night.”
what is wrong with our embassy there for sleeping arrangements??
Not bad for a guy who quit his first Senate job almost two years before his term was over.
Well even if his suite is bugged the Ruskies wont need to turn the mics on. Obambi will just tell them what they want to know!
I wonder if Michelle will end up wearing the drapes?
excellent point. It couldn’t look much worse than her past little fashion efforts
She may even decide on the napkins & hand towels to throw a dazzling, fashionable little outfit together!
0 will not doubt apologize to the Russians about us winning the cold war and everything else that went with it.
No doubt he will pledge billions of taxpayer dollars to the old bear.
Our muslim 0 is really something else.
Yikes! I stayed in the “heart” of Moscow. A short walk to the Kremlin, Red Square and the Bolshoi theater areas about three years ago (twice). Relatively nice hotel with nice view, large bath, free breakfast, good room service, door man, concierge - $95.00/night! Also, wasn’t far to McDonald’s!
I don’t recommend the embassy for anyone (well, maybe for Obama it’s o.k. Ms Obama would probably appreciate the drapes).
BTW - the Russian press is quoting Putin as saying that the Messiah must understand that Russia is not Obama’s “lap dog”.
More important, is, where is TOTUS staying?
I'm thinking of wearing those drapes to the next formal dinner, Laura.
Good question. Keep in mind this a visit to Russia, so it's likely her couture will inspire drapes du jour for Russian dacha haute couture.
those two @sshats look more at home in a trailer park (no offense meant toward trailer park residents)
Russkies will be monitoring the plumbing to verify part of Larry Sinclair’s account.
He makes me sick!
But everyone else is to cut down expensive living. Live poorly, scrimp by on less money so tax payers can pay for his tropical shower.
I hope he gets a full stream of water not a trickle....
Too bad there aren’t any smoking rooms left.
Après moi, le déluge, eh, Barry?
Every time I see his sorry ass on the tube I cannot change channels fast enough. I have never detested anyone as much as I do that POS that some call prsident.
i'm thinking bedspread too....you know, to cover that tank sized butt area, might work too!!
Time for the picure of Carol Burnett in the ''Gone With The Wind' skit. Some FReeper will supply that... LOL
Another example of how the liberal elite love to have special treatment, while they look down their noses with scorn at the ordinary public.
Aren’t we going through difficult economic times with record numbers out of work?
And don’t we have an embassy in Moscow?
When we built the new Embassy, I am sure they put a suite for VIP’s such as the President. But that is not good enough for him, I suspect. Probably no Muzzie servants in the Embassy that would kiss his and Michelle (the new Russian fashion queen with the big butt)a@@
You got that right. After all, we "can't just expect that other countries are going to say OK" to that. We certainly don't want a situation where Russia isn't OK with his room at 72.
Don’t remember that place, must be new, I stayed at the Metropol, its restaurant was where Rasputin used to hold court !
She must have used a whole room of upholstery to cover her big fat ass.
YES! That’s the one. Thank you.
If anyone is wondering how much past visits to Russia cost taxpayers, I was there in ‘74 when Nixon visited. I don’t remember the name of our hotel but it over looked Red Square so could be the same building or at least the neighborhood where Hussien will be staying. We got bumped midway through our stay so they could put Kissinger in our room. It was your average nothing fancy tourist fare room and considerably short of the bill we all will be getting in a couple days.
OMG- when/where did she wear that outfit? She proves everyday exactly just how low-life she is.
Do the Obama’s ever stop to think what this kind of spending looks like when American’s are scrimping by?
