It will be interesting to see how the Chinese deal with “restive” Muslims.

Many Uighurs complain they are marginalised economically and politically in their own land, which has rich mineral and natural gas reserves.

Looks like the Chinese want to secure their internal energy reserves.

Yeah,it would. But we won't. They still control "the story" pretty well, especially out there in "restive" areas.

I don’t think they’ll ship them to Bermuda.

Why is this not a bigger story?

It's not like China allows free access to its interior to foreign news services.

Looking at a Times of India story: "He said the tensions were sparked by a recent violent dispute at a toy factory between Chinese and Uighurs sparked by a rumour that Uighurs had abused a Chinese woman".

They found out some of their muslim brothers are enjoying the Bahamas and Palau on the US taxpayers money and they want to be a part of it as well.

Their hoping the Beijing boys send them to Gitmo so they can get free laptops, cable tv and a chance to win a life time paid vacation on the good old USA.

You must join jihad in order to participate.

“Why is this not a bigger story?”

Because it involves muslims and doesn’t involve BHO.
Oh yea. The fact that it is China might have something to do with it.

Can’t be truthful...Muslims are peaceful. That’s what our press tell us. It’s gotta be true...

It’s an interesting region. It borders former Soviet Kazakistan to the west, and it’s got Pakistan and Afghanistan to the south. The Chinese need to keep a lid on things, because a full-blown jihad might get outside support and get really nasty.

They will deal with them the same way they did the Tibetans. Sometimes however, I begin to think that China may have it right.

Can you imagine the predicament of the Left if the Chinese really got into an internal civil war with their Muslims? How could they condemn the ChiComs?

lIt will be interesting to see how the Chinese deal with “restive” Muslims.

I'm not sure 'interesting' is the right word. Think of how a large ant coloney deals with an invading small group of foreign ants. They are each one ripped to shreds by the army ants, and devowered by the worker ants, and remaining exoskeleton parts are used by the drones to shore up the coloney. It's been about 500 years since the Han took any crap from anyone else in China. Bad timing, Muzzies.

That is Chinese occupied East Turkestan or Uyghurstan. This is not really a religious thing. The ChiComs are pursuing a policy of displacement in its occupied non-Han areas including Tibet, East Turkestan, Manchuria, Inner Mongolia, the Zhuang in Guangxi, etc. (For a full list see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_groups_in_China )
If this were an issue of religion than the Muslim Hui, who are Chinese, would also be rebelling.

Same way they did Napal, they will shoot them and try to destroy their culture and religion. (good luck)
Glad to see the moosies giving fits to the chi-coms too.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch.
