Huckabee has tough talk for Palin
Politico ^ | July 5, 2009 | Ben Smith

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:31:49 AM PDT by Bratch

Mike Huckabee, himself once an object of significant media attention, has always chafed a bit at Sarah Palin's rise. And in two different bytes on "Fox News Sunday" today he didn't mince words about her decision to resign.

"In a primary this is going to be an issue she'll have to face. Will she be able to withstand the pressure?" he asked.

And, referring to the ethics inquiries Palin faces, Huckabee said of his own time as a GOP governor in an overwhelmingly Democratic state:"If that had been the case for me, I would've quit in my first month. If she's looking to be a national political figure, it's not going to get easier."

But it wasn't the case with you, Mike. Real easy to criticize from the sidelines, isn't it?

Palin has made a very strategic flanking move on the DNC, the MSM, and the politcal establishment as a whole.

I applaud her for it, and she has my support.

Huckabee, you're a two bit huckster who should be working as a Carnival barker somewhere.

You and your phony baloney big government 'conservatism' are what got us into this mess.

Now sit down and STFU.

Who will make more money and reach more people next year: Sarah Palin, citizen, or Peggy Noonan, “political commentator”

Apparently someone needs to remind Huck that he was found guilty in 5 of his ethics violations and Sarah is still sitting pretty at zero.

Huck: 5 of 16
Sarah: 0 of 15

I am no Huckabee fan, but it was the case with him.

If I recall correctly he had his office door nailed shut, and another he had his office furniture removed on a technicality. He faced a host of ethics complaints during his time as Lt. Gov. and Gov.

SARAH’S HIGHER CALLING:
Sarah Palin would do more for the nation - in my opinion – by taking over the RNC and kick Steele to the curb. She could get much more done for this nation as opposed to running for office - but that could come later...

This would:
* Bring conservative principles back to the RNC (small government, get government out of our lives, lower taxes, 2nd amendment support, state's rights, small business support, lower taxes, strong defense, no-nonsense foreign policies). Conservatism works every time it is tried.

* She could be a credible spokesperson for energy, drilling, etc in light of sane environmental initiatives.

* She could, on a daily basis, take the wind out of Barry's Marxist sails on a host of his anti-American issues (bank take-overs, nationalization of large sectors of the economy, socialism, class warfare, generational theft, bigger government, job killing). Her media appeal would take away from the daily barrage of "new plans" put out ad nauseum by Barry, Rahm, Steffy, and 'Astro-Turf' Axelrod. She would be a countervailing force to the crap we get from the White Crib on a nearly hourly basis. If Republicans embraced the Twitter, Facebook, MySpace internet viral communications, it would be a direct hit against Barry's minions.

* She could - and this is the biggest reason she should take over the RNC - help with a 1994-esque take-over of both houses and start blocking the hopey-dopey-changey-strangey crap we have seen for the last 6 months.

The Presidency would be OK for her later on, but short-term we need to do things that set the stage for long-term solutions, that is, GET THE SENATE BACK (which will run to the SCOTUS issues), get the HOUSE BACK (which runs to spending and social engineering issues).

We need to be strategic, not knee-jerk, and Sarah may be an important rallying point to meet these objectives AS THE HEAD of the RNC.

But I could be wrong....

Apparently someone needs to remind Huck that he was found guilty in 5 of his ethics violations and Sarah is still sitting pretty at zero.

You can't judge Huckabee based on his being found guilty in a system that thought it was rational to nail his office door shut and remove his office furniture. The deck is stacked against any Republican in Arkansas.

You can judge him based on the fact that he totally flip-flopped when he decided to run for President and the pro-illegals stance he adopted at that time.

There is a lot to judge Huckabee on......but anything that came out of an Arkansas ethics case should be taken with a grain of salt.

Sarah told them, “It’s not going to be politics as usual.”
I think she has got the drive to be President and the will
and she understands populism, the nation has been crying out
for a leader who has the spark of understanding the common
folk. What we ended up with last time was a socialist agitator ego maniac who is using the power of the government to entrench himself and his minions in positions
of power.

I applaude this move by Palin, again she throws the media
and the liberals for a loop.

Palin, our FIRSt FEMALE President!!!

Isn’t it interesting. I for one had NO TROUBLE understanding
what she was saying as I think most average citizens would.
The continual attacks were distracting from her job as Governor. She concluded the big pipeline deal and now
want’s to be free to deal with other issues. Issues of
more import than just state ones.

The media/liberals are terrified of her and one only need
watch their coverage to see it.

I believe she has a much more important future in store
and will do all I can to encourage and support her.

Tet.

As I recall, during the primary when Huckabee was still running, he spent his time and energy attacking his conservative opponents, not those “moderates” such as John McCain. That he would be attacking Palin is no big surprise. Huckabee’s political ambitions are clearly more important to him than his stated political and moral values.

Huckabuck means well, but he's also a politician. The fact is, he knows that Palin can come into Arkansas and eat his lunch.

Almost all of his evangelical base voters belong to Sarah because of her decision to carry Trig to term. That's walking the walk.

It's easy to talk. It's not easy to bridge the gap between the fiscal cons and the social cons the way that Sarah does.

Let's not kid ourselves, however. Palin will need to make substantive, relentlessly issue-filled critiques of Obama to bury the "quitter" meme. This will haunt her until she turns the corner in a way that ordinary voters look past her decision to leave the Governorship for the Wilderness.

You want to be John the Baptist? Understand that they call it the Wilderness for a reason.

Best,

Chris

Did you know that Huckabee ran a marathon? You might because he ceaselessly bragged about it. His time was 4:38.

Sarah Palin also ran a marathon in 2005. She's hardly ever mentioned it. Her time was 3:59.
